Think I read somewhere recently that the parent company of Carnival Cruises is in the red for about $1b, so that's a huge loss.

Hospital admissions in the UK doubled in a week as the pandemic revives, while their test and tracing system is failing.
This expert says they should copy the examples of NZ and Vietnam and focus on test and tracing, social distancing and border controls.
It's interesting to relate this to the differing examples from approaches followed by our states.

Couple of obvious points regarding The Great Infectious Experiment' a.k.a. cruising in a Petro Di.. er... Cruise ships

Despite the thousands of bodies crammed into these floating entertainment centres, and the speed at which things like "common cold" and flu and nono-virus (gastric) spreads...
NOT everyone on board was infected, and of those who were infected, not everyone became unwell, and of those who showed symptoms, not everyone needed to be hospitalised. and.... of those, not everyone died.

Yes, too many passed, partly due to this virus acting in a novel way, so 'treatment' was not as effective or as fast as we'd like.

And who of us can recall the worldwide panic of those previous PAN-Demics, Avian, and SWINE Flu.

Reconstruction of a Mass Hysteria: The Swine Flu Panic of 2009 - DER SPIEGEL

Note the comments made about the sales pressures from certain (many?) Vaccine manufacturers, and the abysmally low % of Germans who wanted to be vaccinated against Swine Flu, compared with how many millions of doses the German Government had already signed up for. Oops !

Disclaimer:- I have no interest or envy of those floating "entertainment" sardine cans, and being turned into scrap is a worthy fate !

Unfortunately as in the community it is not the Cruise ship or the town or city that is at fault but the so-called humans who decide to get on these ships infected instead of staying home ( " I have paid my money so i am entitled to get on board " ) and then fail to follow any directions given to prevent infection , been on plenty of cruises and the behavior of some passengers is enough to make you puke .

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Brings to mind that woman killed on a Cruise Ship some years ago - perpetrators were not good representatives of our civilisation...

But the point was, not everyone is infected simply by lack of Social Distancing from the Deadly Plague Victims.

What you say is quite true, Self-discipline and self-respect are sadly lacking in those people.

    Bugger

Eli Lilly has been paused because of a “potential safety concern,” according to emails that government officials sent on Tuesday to researchers at testing sites, and confirmed by the company. The news comes just a day after Johnson & Johnson announced the pause of its coronavirus vaccine trial because of a sick volunteer, and a month after AstraZeneca’s vaccine trial was halted over concerns about two participants who had fallen ill after getting the company’s vaccine.

This seems a good summary of how Victoria has improved it's contact tracing system and is now able to jump quickly on outbreaks. Hopefully it will mean restrictions can be eased for our poor old Vic friends, who have had such a tough time. You gotta feel sorry for them.

Seems like a huge amount to us,but in the whole scheme of their business,it may not be.

Airlines are in the same situation.

Why "Bugger" ? - would you prefer they push on ahead regardless (Reckon they are, anyway...)
