They tried to get us to do that for months at the RCH. I had a look at the app, the company providing the app and the way it was managed and when asked I let them know I had exactly zero confidence in the hospitals chosen providers privacy and data security policies, so I’ll keep doing it manually thanks.

I timed a few people using the app and us doing it manually. It wasn’t faster, it just meant the screener didn’t have to do anything except grab the sticker as it came out of the printer. The time from scan to the sticker coming out was about the same.

I’ve looked at quite a few of the apps and I have absolutely no confidence at all in the security around the data. I’m considering using a “burner” for the G2G application to get back into WA. We have spare phones with us.

Fortunately Australia has done well in this regard. Around a 0.3% chance of having COVID based on the level of testing done to date.

Imagine how different things would have been if we didn’t have the Ruby Princess and Victorian Hotel Quarantine fiascos.

I imagine it would have left us thoroughly unprepared and complacent ensuring the first case that snuck in would have gone rampant.

As bad as things may have been, I think the outbreaks we have had has ensured we are “aware and not alarmed”.

Not that I’d ever trade that for the 800 deceased....

    “aware and not alarmed”.

That is a good saying Brad, & while initially we were alarmed (most people were) we have settled down to the awareness factor & do the hands etc.
    So far so good.

    There's logic in that !
On the same theme, it's been said that Aussies are not jealous - like the Yanks etc- for their freedoms, as we've never had to fight for them in a war, civil or otherwise....

At the same time, not "everyone" on that or other cruising Petri Dishes got sick. Or infected.

Who knows enough of the symptoms of COVID-19, - enough to take yourself or the patient off to medical help ? - How may died this year in Oz "of" covid-19? Are leaders worried ?

Who knows enough of the symptoms of SEPSIS - enough to ring an ambulance right now ? Around 5,000 die in Australia of 'Sepsis', from around 15,000 cases. Are leaders worried ?

Sepsis Epidemiology - Australian Sepsis Network

Why mention Sepsis ? - Well, COVID can kill in a similar fashion, so resource investment in getting very very good at 'treating' it will be transferable to saving seriously ill covid-19 patients.

The etc would include weaing surgical or N95 facemasks ? - Especially if a government made it mandatory ?

Anyone seen many... or any pics of Billy Goat wearing a mask ? - Just asking...

What many of these people characterise as an infringement of their human rights really isn't - a lot of these sort of claims in relation to "rights" are never much more than puerile self interest. Re masks, as the Amnesty and the LIV said:

Here's a good explanation of why the UK's privatised contact tracing system is only reaching 60% of contacts and is failing miserably. Compared with this, Victorians have done miracles.
