No, being vaccinated doesn't mean that you can skip quarantine.

And I won't even start on the idiocy of him comparing his 24th floor serviced apartment to a despot's prison.

    QR Codes - NSW

I haven't loaded the QR scanner app onto my phone as being in the ACT I haven't really needed it. Went to a couple of places today and had to sign in so I thought I would load the ACT "Check in CBR" QR code app - took about 5 secs to find it in the app store and about another 5 secs to install and setup. Only needed phone number and name.

As that was easy and as I am just outside NSW I thought I would do the same with NSW.

Well after about 20 minutes searching the NSW gov pages I found a link for the QR Code App - loaded it but it is the Service NSW App - it then wants me to sign up to Services NSW and provide scans of my drivers licence and other identifying information - wtf.

I just want to do the right thing and be able to scan in at NSW premises - the ACT system took all of 20 secs but I cannot manage the NSW system - it is little wonder people are not using it - they need to learn the KISS principle.

So - what am I doing wrong noting I am not in NSW and do not need access to their Services NSW systems - and their COVID hotline only works up until 8pm.

    Thanks

Major reason for you perhaps but for us old blokes its about not dying from it . No one will get more freedom to move until 80 or 90 % of the country is vaccinated or the Federal Government takes responsibility and provides effective Quarantine. Which in fact is their responsibility.
    Cheers, Billy.

The Services NSW app is working better now than when first implemented, initially it was ridiculously cumbersome, kept crashing and just plain didn't work so most of us just didn't use it until it became mandatory.

Most everyone that's in NSW has had it for so long its habit wherever you go, although as noted in Sydney a lot have become complacent recently.
Turn on your camera, point it at the QR code and go.

For interstaters you don't need an account, just scan the QR code and complete a guest check in.

The NSW app declares that it is not available on my phone (presumably too old).

However, I have recently found that you can install a QR reader app. Starting this, then pointing the phone at the checkin, fills the screen with a full page URL. Simply tapping this opens the Service NSW web page. Then just scroll down to a red box labelled something like checkin, tap on that and follow the prompts.

So in fact, like many situations, you do not actually need the "app". But they do not tell you that. I suspect that the same sort of process works for other state's checkin QRs.

So far have not needed the app as about the only place we need it is at out local bakery were we go for coffee couple of times a week & have just been signing in . Lately they have had no pens there to sing in with as everyone has been steeling them & they are not replacing them. I decided to put the app on my phone , followed all the steps , typed in email address & password , red message pops up incorrect, so type it in again & same message. So give up. About 1/2 hr later I get email from Google telling me someone is trying to use my email address & password & they have blocked it. I even asked my son in law to try , with the same result. Grrrrrrrr will just take my own pen when we go for coffee from now on.

i managed to get onto a NSW consultant this morning. Yes they use the Service NSW App and you have to put in a can of your drivers licence and another ID document - no thanks too hard.

She did say that you can just scan the QR at the shop with the camera on and the phone will take you to the Service NSW App where you enter your details - at the point of entering the shop - OK except it does not remember the information and each time you use the NSW QR code you have to enter all the data in again - defeats the purpose, little wonder people are not using it. As said above the ACT system downloaded, installed and setup in about 20 secs - so easy.

So if in NSW I asked to sign in they will just get a name and number.

    Cheers
