Absolutely - one of the issues with the Economist generally is that they're typically bitchy about Australia.

And what are they suggesting was the alternative - letting it run freely like they did and have over 128,000 deaths?

And every time there has been a lockdown in Vic the number of tests (and now vaccinations) goes through the roof and the number of new daily cases stops being exponential after a couple of days.

I read Prof Mary-Louise McLaws stating there have been about 21,000 Aussies infected with Covid resulting from 24 hotel quarantine breakouts since the pandemic began.
She strongly advocates building quarantine camps to overcome the ventilation problems.

While not disagreeing with camps. I put UVC air sterilizers in as we know they work to kill anything airborne more than a year ago. That the hotels where not using the same cheap U.V. sterilization technology amazes me still.

At least two the elderly at Arcare are reported as positive now. The room and ventilation at Arcare is NOT protecting them if the ventilation system just shares it from room to room. Hope they have windows to open!!!

While choice is being suggested as a reason some 1/1a are not vaccinated. I think feel it was very unbalanced statements and reporting of very low risk side effects not balanced by the significant benefits which scared or caused many to delay or defer the offers to vaccinate.
The Phase 1 and 1B not having the vaccines as soon as they could is a shocker plus in my view. It may kill people.

Not suggesting UVC at home boys and girls- It is not for tanning- I does cause cancer if our skin is exposed to it. Only while the lights are on.

Noting as well. My paint will be impacted by my daily U.V.C zapping when every one is out of the rooms and building.

It is concerning that it has taken three months and not all federal aged care residents and staff have been vaccinated, although state aged care is done. Staff at federal aged care homes were told to see their GPs for vaccines.
Also concerning that GPs can't get enough vaccines to meet the demand from their clients.
I read the situation is even worse in disability homes, with not many vaccinated.
Groups 1a and 1b are the highest priority because they are the most vulnerable.

    Bugger bugger bugger

BlueCross Western Gardens Sunshine aged care home, in Melbourne’s western suburbs, has confirmed that a female worker tested positive over the weekend.

"90 rooms" looks like there is Windows for the poor sod at least.

Spreading saddy despite the lock down "Blue Cross said the woman was tested on Friday because she had completed a shift at Arcare Maidstone. She returned a negative result on Friday, but was tested again on Saturday and returned a positive result.
Meanwhile, Royal Freemasons has locked down two of its facilities after it was notified that two staff members had worked at Arcare in Maidstone.
The Coppin Centre, off St Kilda Road, and Royal Freemasons in Mephan Street, Footscray, have been locked down since Sunday morning."

Should have been fishing with Mario Yesterday. That is delayed - deferred not canceled
