    Vaccines for COVID may be available for those as young as 6 months, by their Autumn. 4 million children have tested positive in the US since the start of the pandemic, rare cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children have been found in children. This syndrome can effect the multiple organs, including the heart. By vaccinating children, the US reasons it can help contain the virus spread. From the N Y Times;

    Yeah that makes sense. I read the post above like the positives were knowingly being kept with the negatives.

    Mick, these two events have faded into irrelevency. It's too far in the past for the source to be identified (actually, the intermediary source). Do you really think that with it being one of the most contagious variants that it would go undetected for 6 weeks or more? That would imply that there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of undetected cases circulating but that's not the case is it? Testing result don't bear that out. As for Avalon that was six months ago and long knocked on the head. I guess you could ask the same question about any cluster that has emerged throughout the country. Did they find all the up stream AND down stream cases? Who knows?

    I think we can be be assured that, as a nation, we do very well at stopping these outbreaks and with the testing of both people and sewage we can have a far amount of confidence that we are successful in doing that.

    Gotta say that out in regional Vic (no lockdown) everyone is very diligently scanning or signing into premises they visit from what I've seen.

    DL, that is probably more from the huge fines they can get clobbered with rather that Public Duty.

    I heard of one instance here where WW doors were locked by the cops & everyone inside was checked against the sign in book.

    I wouldn't have thought that was legal but these days who knows? Apparently they did remove the one way turn stiles for a similar reason ie. "forced captivity", so who knows ?

    Didn't happen in the Adelaide case that resulted in the Melb outbreak. The guy had tested negative the whole time in quarantine but was housed next to someone who had tested positive from the start.

    Yes they were - maybe fixed now but a month ago was still happening. That is one of the reasons Howard Springs has worked - even though it is all open air - known positives are kept in a separate secure area, away from the negatives and if a negative turns positive they are immediately moved. Even now in the hotels, a negative turned positive can take up to a day to be moved to a "positive" hotel.

    Looks like there'll be a string of sites through NSW and onto the Sunshine Coast now where people will be on tenterhooks.
