He was simply stating the bleeding obvious - dont shoot the messenger because he is right - (and dont believe Nelson's review found something new - it didn't, it is just that the times are a changing) - the Navy recommendations until recently had to go through the Royal Navy and invariably were stopped. Also the Navy's own brass in the past were often not supportive - attitude was often that the heros were just doing their job, hence Sheenan was awarded MID.

Not going to harp on the graves of the people whom stopped this in the past they hung themselves in shame.

The anger felt when we toasted Ordinary Seamen Teddy Sheean will be joy now.

You have so many to remember James. Sydney (WW2.) being amongst them. Australia's first Submarine HMAS AE1 off New Guinea ,
Sunda Strait losses, HMAS Perth, Collision Losses off Nowra (HMAS Voyager) & many many more.

The award has been approved - what a win for common sense, despite the present Chief of the Defence Force opposing it because he believes it will open the flood gates.

John Simpson Kirkpatrick of Simpson and the Donkey fame may be the next - I hope.

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion yet. Liz has no opposition, that's only one more hurdle crossed.

Queen Elizabeth II has approved the posthumous awarding of the Victoria Cross to WWII hero Edward 'Teddy' Sheean, Governor-General David Hurley says.

    Bravo Zulu.

    No revolution required this week
