The joint Chiefs of Staff have the final say, no matter what Hollywood says. However in the case of a nuclear attack on the USA, the President would be in a secure place, and worst case, the Joint Chiefs were out of action, he could order a counter attack. That's how I see It, in simple terms. And that is what Pelosi would have been told. There is zero chance of Trump starting a nuclear War. Thankfully.

For God's sake there is already a 170 page thread on Trump in current affairs containing the same posts in some cases as in here. How many threads are needed?

If the president (who is commander-in-chief of the armed forces) decides to order the use of nuclear weapons, they would be taken aside by the "carrier" and the briefcase would be opened. A command signal, or "watch" alert, would then be issued to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The president would then review the attack options with the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and decide on a plan, which could range from a single cruise missile to multiple ICBM launches.

The United States has a two-man rule in place at nuclear launch facilities, and while only the president can order the release of nuclear weapons, the order must be verified by the secretary of defense to be an authentic order given by the president


This verification process deals solely with verifying that the order came from the actual president. The secretary of defense has no veto power and must comply with the president's order.

I'm taking the view that the subject is being discussed as topical, groundbreaking news.
If anyone posts in a political vein, (ie: promoting or denigrating an ideology) it will be reported and dealt with.
This is my personal opinion, other Mods make take a different stance.
