Nah, that's only a date on the Gregorian calendar, the purpose of which was to standardise Easter with the equinoxes.
Nothing to do with seasons, I reckon. Also, there are six seasons in areas of Northern Australia.

Obviously you didn't twist the throttle far enough.

That's interesting. When we lived in Thailand the joke was there were only two seasons: hot and wet and hot and dry.

When I lived in Wewak there were two seasons - hot and wet (laughingly called 'dry") and hot and very wet. In the dry season it often didn't rain before lunch and sometimes the rain after lunch actually stopped occasionally before dawn.

Golden wattles chez moi have been out for 3 weeks.

    Acacia Paradoxes budded up.

Wattle birds nesting, eastern rosellas mating.

Wood ducks doing the usual confusing thing, looking serious then going over to another tree. Counted six pairs going through the motions from the one spot while talking to a mate on the phone on the weekend..

Yellow tail black cockies here every day now, especially a family group of three. Chick still has the juvenile squawk.

What you mob are describing could be the result of an earlier that usual start to spring, Not Summer

It does feel like spring, but a bloody cold one.

If you're in the sun it can be quite warm but the winds are freezing.

More evidence of the desertification of southern Victoria - it's cold because the skies are clear because there's not much moisture in the air.
