Packing several instant covid tests. Once I pass twice, I am getting a cuddle with several VIPs one of whom is just a few weeks old now who I have kept myself away from. I got the Mrs Chemo a covid booster at one chemist and dad one at another Chemist after begging lots

You might note I seem to beg more than a bit for Covid Vaccines supplies for Schools VCE, School Kids and everyone to be honest

Happily supplies are now easy IF the RULZ are not flip flopped about such as over the last two weeks

So that was Xmas????? Will the disco move?
COVID live updates: National cabinet to hold emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss Omicron variant
    Will the disco move?

Of course it will if it's fuelled, has a good battery & few other do dads includng 4 wheels. Don't blame me if it doesn't. The emergency situation is that you tie a good strong belt around you, hook the trailer on & as you run it may shirley follow. Jobs a goodun.

Have a good break James, I think you have really earned this one.

NB. Not a break as in going a Gutser off your bike again. but you get my drift.

Sounds like a conspiracy to me.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

This and the original warning are not "according to Ian", the issue was discussed in the Mods' Pen, taking into account legal advice and the opinions of people with more knowledge of such things, than the average bush lawyer.
When a volunteer was called to step forward, to make the post, I was the only bloke who didn't step backwards.
Don't you mean the others stepped back one pace?

In Britain, new infections driven by the Omicron variant have reached their highest levels of the pandemic. PM Boris Johnson said an extremely difficult surge of hospitalisations in London meant he was looking at " All kinds of things to keep Omicron under control " In London, where cases are doubling every two days, the numbers of hospitalised COVID patients rose by 30 %. [ the UK is at 81% 2nd dose vaccinated , 48% boosters.]]

In Germany, where more health workers are testing positive, and ICU's and emergency rooms are reaching capacity , government leaders were scheduled to meet on Tuesday, to discuss imposing stricter curbs on gatherings.

The Netherlands has shut down all but essential business.

In Denmark, where 77 % of the population is fully vaccinated, Omicron cases are doubling every two days. With 9,000 cases daily , Denmark has one of the highest infection rates in the World. [ at 77 % ]

And in the US, cities are re-imposing mask mandates.
Roight Boris, you have had plenty of opportunities to do something & you muff it every time by putting yourself first. Brits will not forget.

As satisfying as it may be to lay the boot into Boris, the truth is no one knows where Omicron is heading. The overly optimistic view is that it is only mild, and will pass , just like the common flu. That's the mistake the Brits made, and the one we seem to be going to. Results from around the World show it is highly contagious, and dangerous to the elderly & vulnerable, and that 3 jabs is the new norm. Actually 3 jabs are essential. Heard an epidemiologist [ never heard that word before COVID ] say on the radio that only 30% of Australians are fully vaccinated against what Omicron is bringing. Every day the information changes, and to be fair, government health officers have to process something new every day. No wonder people are confused.

At this juncture everyone has a go to "expert"

This morning I have seen media reports that dismiss ATAGI who should be the Australian authority on vaccinations as "too conservative" Its OK to have that view but we are constantly reminded to listen to the experts, except when the experts don't promote the line of fear you are peddling.....
Similarly Nick Coatsworths views are now not to be listened to as he is not the right sort of expert.

A lot of the panic has as much relevance as when we were being told "you are not locking down hard enough" yet Victoria had exactly the same rate of infection growth a couple of weeks later, despite the most restrictive regulations by far. (lets not get into a discussion about how it was spread there, its been done to death and that's not the point)

We are highly vaccinated, it is likely that that will prevent serious symptoms in most people.
Boosters are available at 5 months - go get them
Wear masks as is sensible, we are grownups, it shouldn't need a government to make it mandatory, although in most settings where it matters it already is mandatory ( where you can't social distance such as public transport. Retail has NEVER been a major transmission location for covid until now, maybe Omicron will change that but we are vaccinated, remember.

If you don't want to catch covid maybe reconsider going to that nightclub (maybe not a major concern for most on here)

Unfortunately in Australia, the " experts " advice is usually defined by what side of politics is behind them.
