It’s business that needs the freedom we now have in the eastern states,as well as tourism.
I doubt the tourism industry in WA is doing well at all.
The majority of the rest of the economy in WA is probably mining.

Based on percentages of overall infections yes BUT the ACTUAL numbers of hospital admissions is going up rapidly due to the massive increases in infections so things are actually getting worse NOT better.Quote:
Hospitalisations and ICU admissions are actually decreasing based as a percentage of overall infections.
There is so Much more to the WA economy than just mining and some towns especially in the NW of the State have actually had a tourism Boom due to the border closures and West Australians spending their holidays within the State instead of going overseas/interstate.
The local buisnesses (Retail and service) havent taken the massive hits due to endless lockdowns and infected workers not being able to go to work like in some of the other States.
As far as "Freedoms" go West australians can travel anywhere in this vast State, We don't have to wear masks, most of the pubs etc. are open for buisness, We don't have to proove our vaccination status to enter anywhere either.
IF we want to we can moove to ANY State we choose (Coming back is problematic) as well.
So as far as "Freedoms" go WA has Much more of that than most of the other States so I don't know what you are banging on about[biggrin]
Yes. It would make the situation worse, not better.
Some people are convinced that they have found a solution that every medical expert in the world has missed.
They need reminding that for every complex problem there is a solution that is clear and simple and wrong.
Labelling an idea "common sense" does absolutely nothing to make it more valid.
As several people have already said, countries that have even leaned slightly in the direction of abandoning the measures being applied in Australia have seen numbers far worse than ours.
I am convinced that people who think we should stop wearing masks, stop washing our hands, stop keeping our distance, and stop trying to keep track of who is infected must have slept through the high school maths lesson that dealt with exponential growth.
When it gets to WA and it will, the lowest ICU bed rate per capita in the country with a lack of herd immunity will see McGowan lock the place down for another 12 months. He has had 2 years to get his act together. Now he will blame someone else.....again
WA has lowest ICU bed count in nation based on population, according to medical journal - ABC News
NSW has also had 2 years to get its act together and yet it is still a 3 ring circus over there with COV19 infections, hospitilisations and deaths.
The NSW government has absolutely NOTHING to "Skite" about with its **** poor responses to this pandemic and why is it that many from NSW are always "Bagging" WA about its COV19 responses when WA has fared a thousand times better that the Gold standard State has over the last couple of years.
Yes [tonguewink]
But pollies don't know better, and sometimes the health advice given to us by the pollies has been heard the way the pollies want to tell it not the way it was given to them.
We have gotten through with luck and lockdowns.
Look how omicron is spreading now, pollies have not the gumption any more for major lockdowns or border closures, and let's face it, there comes a time to move on.
All the deaths have not convinced die hard anti vaxxers of anything, just like all the ads about not using your mobile phone when driving, not tailgating, not beating the women and children up in your household (and men in my experience) , even having gentle warning ads about tradies drug driving (are we so blase/accepting about everything nowadays ) etc etc
The world moves on and will move on.
It doesn't matter in the scheme of things how many millions die over this (unless I am one of them, then it matters but only to me), how many died in past wars and pestilence and how many die in the future wars and pestilence, the world moves on repeating ad nauseum. We don't learn. We talk, do what needs to get us through the moment, but don't learn to not repeat our mistakes.
