The original did that - the cytokine storm - but I read somewhere that it was more marked in young people. Not sure if Delta behaves any differently.

The cytokine storm combined with (or caused by, or exacerbated by) inflammation of the endothelial cells results in shredding blood cells leading to multiple organ failure. I recall taking to a couple of doctors about it mid-last year in relation to something completely different. I never got a concrete answer on the specifics, but only because the details were fairly hazy at the time. I still don't think they've pinned it down specifically.

In a "normal" healthy person the symptoms can be hard to spot until it's pretty much too late, particularly if they are not actually being monitored.

I see Westmead and Blacktown hospitals have stopped accepting Covid patients because they can't take any more. Not good.

Interesting that Qld has paused its hotel quarantine program because they have over 5000 people in 22 hotels, including about 3000 who are southerners moving to Qld to escape the situation down south.
In NSW and Vic you can't leave your cave. In Qld, I went whale-watching yesterday. The cave is looking good.

Yes, they also expect some Afghan refugees in the next few weeks. It caught one young bloke and his family from Victoria out, he had sold his house, booked on the 3pm plane to come up, but the pause started at midday. They had no where to stay in Vic., and the ABC announcer said she would contact the Premiers dept., to see what could be done. She was talking to his Father whom he was going to move in with until they could get a home. I really hope something can be done for them. My son and I are going to Shorncliffe for a hamburger at the Shelley inn [ best burgers in Brisbane.] Then we will eat them sitting on the creek bank watching the boats come and go, and dream of a lotto win.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Finally, some good news for the NSW government. They are off the hook for the Ruby Princess disaster, it seems.

Hang on - So a NSW appointed special commissioner found that that this MIGHT not have happened if the Federal Government performed better...? That's convenient huh?

I'm no lover of the Federal Gubmnet but c'mon - that's the best cop out I've seen in a while. Don't think that one will pass the sniff test to be honest.
