Having said that we don't know the detail behind why the kid was sent down there which could range form nagging grandparents to family tensions at home. Or in a more fanciful scenario it could be a conspiracy by the Murdoch press, but I doubt that they are that organised.

Certainly the flight back was by Angleflight and not a chartered flight.

Just have to look at channel 9 today when they found that kid at Putty. Milked a live broadcast for 30mins, cameramen chasing cars around the property, helicopter hovering. Dude with the microphone trying to interview (with little success) near hysterical relatives (some of which was bunged on for the cameras IMO). They just went over and over and over the same stuff for 30mins, could have been done in 10. Sensationalism.

Still a better outcome than the alternative, Ray. When I first heard of the disappearance, it made me want to dig out my orange overalls.
The kid's alive, I'm so relieved. I've never been involved with a a search that went for so long and end well.

I'm curious about how the kid was "sent" to the grandparents' place - presumably one of the parents drove down there and then came back.

I'm pretty sure that he didn't go down there on his own and I doubt that a bus would take an unaccompanied kid that age.

I have been following this with interest - eight years ago I had a three year old went walkabout here; fortunately found after only a few hours. By one of the locals marking the route in here for the dog squad. But she was not autistic and non-verbal - very much the reverse; her nick name is "never-met-a-stranger" or "where's the off switch?". Still that way at eleven.

No there is CH 7 but if it is not sport related they'd bore the pants of you as well.

If the kid had been a rising footy player they would have had a chopper out & 50 hacks. as well as a Lunch Wagon.

Indoors was just saying that one day there will be Tracking devices suitable for kids like him. Implanted? Who knows?

Of course a giveaway would be the 10 Element Yagi sticking out of the kid's head. But you know what I mean, they can do it for cars trucks & all sorts these days & are very tiny.

Don't get me wrong I'm very happy that the little fella was found alive and well (still looks a little sus to me). BUT, the head of news should have cut that broadcast much shorter than it went. For me that "journalist" was insensitive, bullish and was pushing himself and his crew were they were not wanted. Someone is going to say "he was just doing his job", if he was on my property he would have got a punch in the face and been told to leave.

No they are not, it is just one example of the standard (very low) that the Australian media has sunk to in order to get views, be they readers of traditional newspapers or electronic media including television and internet base systems. I watch a variety of news programmes and read a variety of media and they all seem to be doing the same thing, sensationalising (see definition above) stories, at the expense of accuracy and truth.

And now back to normal programming.

So a couple of hundred less cases in NSW today. Is that good or a false dawn?

There was no reason that he couldn't have been dropped there by his parents or that they couldn't have met halfway. Neither state was locked down and no border restrictions were in place at the time, although the Qld Premier was warning that the border could shut at short notice.
