There's nothing illegal about travelling from most of Victoria to NSW, coming back is a different matter.

I was also just pointing out there's no hard border around Melbourne. It's all relying on people's good will to do the right thing.

Getting to Docklands today there were roadblocks everywhere and I got carded to check that I wasn't outside my 10km limit.

On the other hand, some of my neighbours appear to spend half their time living elsewhere and the street empties out on Friday evenings. It rankles because we had a birthday this week and I told my son to not come over because technically he'd be breaching the rules, notwithstanding that this is his actual address.

I was presuming that they had border controls in place and were checking people heading out as well as in - it suggests that the whole red zone thing is a farce.

If they left Melbourne - or anywhere else in Victoria with a 5km limit (i.e., Shepparton and Ballarat) - they broke the law and would be up for a $5000 fine.

Like I said this kind of thing rankles because we had Fathers Day and a birthday this week and my son - who's living in residence and is just a couple of kms away - didn't come over for either because the regs don't contemplate it.

I call a definate BS on that , most of VIC is in lockdown and travelling interstate is definately a No No.
Wandering about the country for no valid reason with this delta strain running rampant in NSW and Vic at the moment is most definately wrong and anti social behaviour, What part of that can't you understand??

Trout, you're a long way from Victoria and NSW, you need to check the local restrictions. Much of both states have no travel restrictions, locally. NSW has no entry restrictions. All states have bans on unlimited entry from NSW.
