Well, in between morning sleeps I asked myself a question and went looking for an answer

My interpretation suggests to me (your mileage may vary) that we are dropping dead at the same average rate as we would have if covid wasn't around.

And as we have ambulance ramping every year in all the country at various times well b4 covid was around I think our 'lockdown in lieu of vaccination' which in future should change to 'vaccination in lieu of lockdown' may have done the trick.

Hopefully when we open up 'vaccinated' the hospitalisation rate won't go up too much and we get through .

But I get the impression while overall deaths may be similar to other years the difference is more stress in hospital ICU (drawing conclusion from press coverage)

Anyone with real knowledge of hospital operations care to comment?
Not in Hospitals myself any more happily. I love statistics and data. The measure of Excess deaths by the ABS has just 1032 to date in Australia. Under the traffic- car, bike and pedestrian deaths. The world OECD Countries – COVID-19 Mortality in 2021

Looking at the list with our deaths at the bottom of the table ( Only NZ has done better) This might be away to see how the efforts to constrain and restrain Covid have helped keep out cases and deaths down and the outstanding work our hospitals and medical infrastructure has done adapting and dealing with the outbreaks.

Death is inevitable part of living. "2019, there were 169,301"

Side effect of lock downs and isolation may be a lot of people not dead from Flu. That and other impacts would also have a mild impact on the ABS data.

How goods your DATA is a question (rhetorical not to you mate) . ABS is good for OZ.

Economist has a world wide version. America with 700,000 deaths show they are despite that horrible number not as bad as many and a lot better than many places not recording or not able to get data.

Sounds like a normal Sunday morning J2.
Also, why do manufacturers of Deodorant stick their gear in glass containers when it will be used in a Tiled Bathroom? More important why do stupid people buy it? I thought glass was banned from the normal bathroom?

That is a good question to ask the Onboard Shopper @ 0900. Didn't take much to set her off. Now I realise what Spud has to put up with.

Also, a lot of the European countries have had a drop in life expectancy because of Covid deaths - we and NZ possibly have had an increase in life expectancy ...

NO Brad, I've done the hard yards, so it'll be time to put my feet up for another 315 years. You might notice me as you pass my Hammock or Deck Chair.

I'll be the bloke with a beard 30' long tangled up in the Deck Chair gubbins.

Just don't kick the chair as you amble by. OK?
