A pretty convincing set of numbers to show that WA's hard border has been and still is a VERY effective defense against COV19.
It is a shame that IF WA opens up on 5/2/22 all this will turn to mud in a heartbeat.
WA may not be opening on the said date if the government listens to the Epidemiologists A great COVID-19 divide is widening in Western Australia as the state edges towards its reopening date - ABC News
People trying to prepare to head over are getting their G2G pass rejected Western Australia'''s COVID-19 border set to fall, but don'''t look for approval to enter the state just yet - ABC News

90+% of people I talk to whilst in my travels of a working day want to keep the order closed
People are enjoying the freedom we have over here
Most have been holidaying around the state and even though it’s more expensive than going to Bali, some actually prefer to holiday in WA
Yes, they wouldn’t mind going interstate, but with the economy booming, everyone is flat out at work earning a good dollar, they wish the other states had followed WAs lead so the borders could be opened safely

IMO keep the border closed Covid Mk ll

It is interesting to note that it is mainly the tourism and service/hospitality industries that are pushing for the feb 5th opening, Can't they see what has happened on the Eastern seaboard with people getting sick with the result of worker and supply shortages that will cripple their businesses.
A pretty short sighted view by self interested parties with NO regard for the health and welfare of anyone else in my opinion.

Keep the gates locked until we can get everyone that wants it to be fully vaccinated after having the 3 jabs and bugger the thoughtless bastards that want to force this COV19 upon us just so they can make money out of it.

Keeping the gates shut until fully vaxxed with 3 jabs isn’t going to keep COVID out.

I’m hoping the gate are open by April as that when we are starting our two year lap of aus staring in WA

If they have freedoms why do night clubs have to open in secret with all the curtains closed so no one knows people are in there and then get raided by the cops.

Yes enjoying the freedoms - still cannot travel outside your state or the country if you want to get back into WA - and if people do travel outside of WA and come back from from overseas, they have to be hosted by the other States until - well who knows.

Like I mentioned over 90% of people I talk to
    Didn’t say everyone

I’m pretty sure WA is still hosting incoming residents and has a quarantine facility ready in June Bullsbrook COVID quarantine facility likely delayed until June, with hotel quarantine to remain - ABC News

No it won't stop the virus getting in BUT waiting until 90% of the 12 and over have had their 3 shots will be helpful in stopping it turning into the complete flustercluk after opening everything up and letting it rip after only waiting untill 8o% of the over 16 are double jabbed have in the other States have done

I think I heard recently that there are currently 200+ domestic arrivals by air daily, so the border is hardly shut completely. It's just strictly limited to those that really have to travel for work or urgent private matters.

I don't think this going to change much on Feb 5, there will still be heavy restrictions for entry.

Actually, in NSW and Vic over 92% of the 16+ are double vaccinated. Omicron infects the fully vaccinated regardless, they're just less likely to die.

Around here on the Bellarine I'm amazed how many people have it / had it in he last month generally feeling like crap, aka flu-ish for a couple of days, then ok, since 'let it rip' became the new norm

    All double vaxxed.

The only two unvaxxed people I know haven't set foot outside their properties for some weeks now.

That still won't stop the virus, it will prevent (hopefully) people from getting really sick or dying. Then WA will be in the same flustercuck as the rest of us.

I know quite a lot of people (including my 16 year old son) that got covid, the ones that were vaccinated said it was similar to the flu, the ones that weren't (pre vaccine days) said it was bloody horrible, some still suffering over 12 months later.

It baffles me as to why some people choose not to get the shot.
