A covid patient was admitted to Westmead yesterday suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. This was not a symptom of the infection, but from the ivermectin he bought on line. The hospital's toxicologist said he was lucky he wasn't in worse condition - and also said they had treated people for ingesting a variety of other "covid cures", including bleach.

Out of curiosity I did a Twitter search and was surprised how many there are out there discussing doing really dumb things which are being touted as cures for Covid.
I thought most people would be smarter than that.
'Living with Covid' seems to be turning into 'dying with Covid'.

Ahaa! Perhaps there is a cure for stupidity, after all?

Yep. When the Ill informed think they are smarter than the educated professionals working on the problem - it becomes a problem in itself.

This time Darwinism will likely win.

Well today’s case numbers in VIC are a shock - 176 cases and the rate of reproduction has jumped up from 1.3 to 1.7 in the last few days.

Similar rate of reproduction prior to the curfew kicking in.

It is now all down to getting as many vaccinated as soon as possible to get out of lockdown.

    !!!!!!!!

I agree with the Age: the Government needs to start explaining more about what's going on - where these infections are, how they're occurring and who they are. Something odd if going on because I only see compliance around here.

The Sydney Morning herald reported this morning that the outbreaks in Dubbo and Wilcannia were allegedly caused by a drug dealer who travelled from Mt Druitt to Dubbo, and passed covid to his partner who attended a funeral in Wilcannia. There were social media rumours that the Canberra outbreak was similarly transmitted although the protagonist denied any knowledge of how he got the virus.

Its exactly the same situation as NSW where Delta is transmissable earlier after infection and possibly before symptoms occur. Very hard to contain as has been seen and the only likely way out is vaccination.

And here is another wild theory or two for why the past methods no longer work with the highly contagious Delta strain….

Vaccinated people with mild symptoms may not even bother to get tested and could be passing it on to un-vaccinated people - hence we see more mystery cases.

A lot of people seem to be waiting a long time before they get tested as well - we see this in the number of cases active in the community.

I have also noticed more middle aged people in my area no longer wearing masks when they go walking - my guess is they are vaccinated and/or no longer care.

Plus the roads are as busy as ever - lots of authorised workers out here in the western suburbs.
