Probably due to the knocking of AZ in the early days & everybody wanted Fizzer. Me & mine settled for what we could readily get, AZ, & we had faith in our testing laboratories which have stood us in good stead all our lives & we are both in our mid-eighties & still going sort of strong-ish but that is not a fault of C-19 just a few aches & pains is all.

In Melbourne's north the cases are exploding while the community begs for more Pfizer, like it was sent to Sydney's west.
Favouring Sydney over other states may result in Melbourne's outbreak growing to rival Sydney's disaster.

On the east coast, depending where you book you can also wait several weeks also. Using the ACT govt booking system the Az wait is 3 months, but at my local chemist the wait is 2 hours - depends where you book.

Again in NSW and the ACT time between AZ jabs is 4 to 6 weeks so maybe your system needs to look at this.

Because at the time AZ was not cleared for use for younger people.

NSW GPs received more Pfizer in August than Victoria and Qld combined.
NSW has only delivered less than half of the AZ used in Victoria.
Federal allocations directly to state governments are broadly in line with their populations, but there are big discrepancies in federal deliveries to GPs.

Only to speed things up in areas where it's required.

RACGP - ATAGI recommends shortened interval between AstraZeneca doses during ‘significant’ outbreaks

"The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended that the standard 12-week interval between the first and second doses of AstraZeneca be reduced to 4–8 weeks for people located in the worst affected areas."
    ...
"In non-outbreak settings, the preferred interval between doses of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca remains at 12 weeks."
    ...
"Thus, shortening the gap between first and second doses will bring forward short-term protection, which is expected to be beneficial in outbreak situations."

So in areas where things are actually under control, why would you potentially compromise your outcomes in order to speed things up?

It is an interesting article and highlights the conundrum that states that are currently covid free will face in transitioning to a situation where covid is endemic. Towards the bottom there are some contradictory statements from different parties and nowhere is there a mention of hospitalisation rates. It seems that the Singaporean government is measuring their response from cases rather than hospitalisation rates out of a large amount of caution, possibly because of the delay between infection and hospitalisation.

Looking at the graph here MOH | News Highlights hospitalisation rates appear to be pretty stable and not (yet) reflective of the increased number of cases.

You need to keep up - yes the general policy is distribution in line with population but when the new shipments came in and because of the high infection rate in NSW, allocations (as explained by the SA Premier) of the extra vaccines were distributed where needed most but all States got some but in different proportions - these have to be transferred back from NSW through reduced allocations from Sep on.

Surely while the core allocations remained unchanged, it was necessary to allocate higher proportions of the Polish and Singaporean vaccines to jurisdiction in most need.
