My two bob on the "vaccinated patrons only" thing is that it will last a month or two and quietly disappear. NSW appears to be gearing up with integrating the vaccination certificate in their app, although I agree that it has some shortcomings and potential (IT) security issues. I reckon that it is being used as a big carrot to get people to be vaccinated in order to resume life, NSW is already at 85% first dose an that will magically turn into 85% double vaccinated in weeks. It might be that at 90 or 95% double vaccination the check ins will be quietly dropped as a waste of time and resources, meaning that there will be effectively no checking of vaccination status at most venues.
From the carrot perspective it certainly made my 18yo daughter ensure that she was fully vaccinated before the middle of next month when pubs will open to to vaccinated patrons so from that perspective it is working on her (and her mates) very effectively.

I have some issues with using Singapore as an example of how "living with covid " is failing. It seems that their government is unwilling to accept any increase in cases and are reacting to case numbers rather than hospitalisation rates to determine their response. This article Living, partying and travelling with COVID. Aussie expats shed light on their summer of freedom - ABC News shows a very different experience in Germany where their population is only 62% vaccinated and they are effectively open with some controls. Australia is looking at a 90% vaccination rate by Christmas, I can't see how we could get any closer to normal than that.

Just hope it doesn't reach the stage where you have to renew it & pay a fee like the MV Licence. I can visualise Govts. thinking about more revenue, but maybe that is just me being a tad cynical.
You can download the certificates to your smart phone and put them in your digital wallet. A bit of a pain to do as you have to hook your phone up to medicare but those certificates are free and are the recognised statement of vaccination.

Not exactly - they've tightened some rules, like 2 people dining together rather than 5:

Under the new rules, most eateries will be able to take in up to only two fully vaccinated diners per group.

There are no changes to rules for hawker centres and coffee shops, where two people can eat regardless of their vaccination status.
Working from home will be the default for the coming month, with those unable to do so encouraged to test themselves weekly.
"I know that many Singaporeans and businesses will be disappointed by today's announcement. I want to assure you that Singapore remains committed to reopening," said Mr Gan, who co-chairs the multi-ministerial task force tackling the pandemic.
"The journey may take longer so that we can do so safely. We seek your patience and support while we adjust our response to ride this wave and future waves of infections." ......

“We may seem like we are trailing some European countries, which are or have reopened and are living lives quite normally,” Mr Ong added. “But remember - they paid a huge price in human lives, mostly last year, which we will do whatever we can to minimise.”

That all seems pretty sensible. NB, Singapore has only had 28 deaths.

Then I won't go anywhere that might be a bit dodgy.

Thanks Tote but It sound like a bit of a faff. No, I'll trust my GP's certificate in SA until I get a knockback. If only..

We have never had Data on our phones as we only ever intended to use them for Emergency use & when NBN goes down etc.

Today I downloaded and printed and laminated the Service NSW vaccination card Create a COVID-19 check-in card | Service NSW

It won't go flat and does not require anything on my phone (which is so old it won't install the Service NSW App).

Lies Dammed lies and statistics ?

    Victorian press conference:
Victorian deputy CHO Ben Cowiesays a third of Victorian teens aged between 12 and 15 have now had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
Cowie: Including both my children who are vaccinated with their first dose last week. This is an important demographic and will go a long way to assisting the safe reopening of our schools as heralded in the roadmap.

It is important to note that these are younger Victorians are not captured in our overall vaccination targets but are an important demographic nonetheless and it is wait to see those numbers rising so quickl

My kids have all been vaccinated. Not shocked but disappointing to see THEY are fudging the statistics and not counting my crew (the infamous not current affairs THEY )

The Count is disappointed. He likes to Count

Interesting comments on TV about having to show you are vaccinated.

In the normal course of things it is illegal for anyone to access medical records and this includes vaccination status unless authorised by the individual. This includes police demanding vaccination status, shop owners etc etc etc.

HOWEVER with the introduction of the Health Orders as an emergency measure, this overrides the normal rules, hence States can close borders and demand people show vaccination status to gain access to venues etc.

The interesting thing will be when States start to open and remove Health Orders but other States decide to keep Health Orders in place and keep borders shut - the Feds have indicated they will take those States to the Federal Court who they believe are dragging the chain with removing Health Orders when the rest of the country has opened up. The Treasurer has also indicated there may also be financial sanctions against those States.

I think there will be interesting time in the Courts ahead with some individuals going to Court over their perceived discrimination at not being vaccinated and where the Feds think it is time to open and some States dont agree despite agreement in National Cabinet a little while back.

the states are saying one thing and the feds another about the "agreement"

    who is telling porkies?

is the agreement in the open and available for scrutiny or is it locked away from oversight ?

Well the minutes of the agreement have been published ans there is a bit of lee way in its interpretation - the Feds had a certain leaning and some States (and not all liberal) agree, but some other States have an opposite interpretation. So when crunch time comes at a future National Cabinet meeting if there is not agreement on the way ahead then I think it will up to the Fed Court to work out what is the way to to go.

It all comes down to whether the special Health Orders are considered valid in the circumstances at the time - if yes then Border Restrictions and Vaccination passes remain in place as determined by the States, if the Court decides Health Orders are no longer necessary then Feds rules apply and who knows what they will do at that time - only time and the Courts will work it all out if State leaders and the PM cannot agree in national Cabinet.
