For those interested in the NZ situation. It has been a strange few weeks getting used to the idea that it is about to come to town. Discussions are currently happening now about how to open up the rest of the country to Aucklanders for christmas. We will certainly be seeing it spread rampant over the holiday travel season. It has been a series of regional spreads over the last six-weeks. Just over the last four days it has arrived at the next twon from us. Come christmas, we'll likely all be under a "covid Protection Framework" system using the traffic light green-orange-red premise of control rather than the old four levels of the last 20-odd months. This is allow for commerce but under varying levels of restriction based on levels of community infection and commercial premises use vax certificates for entry etc.

May as well stop vaccinating now because you're all safe.
WA is projected to reach 80% double dose rate by mid December and a decision will be made at that time on the date that the borders will reopen.
So when you are finally allowed to enter Gods Country you will be much better protected from catchin this virus

Umm what happened to the national cabinet agreement to open borders at 80%....... and I'm better protected from catching the virus than 20% of Western Australians already, thanks.

NZ has been getting some press over here for a perceived threat of terrorism incidents as anti vax extreme right wingers are caught in the restrictions for those not vaccinated. Not sure how much is accurate though. Vaccine mandates and lockdowns have become the '''Trojan Horse''' of New Zealand'''s far-right - ABC News

Not sure how much threat there was/is but the wackos were out for a jaunt the other day for sure. Security was the tightest it has ever visibly been around parliament when the silly sods marched there from central wellington. Certainly a fair smattering of right wing identities in the rabble according to our media here. I think this sort of rabble is attracted to this sort of gathering like blood in the water for sharks, rotten meat for flies... the perspiration of the stupid attracts... [whatever perceived oppression definition fits...]

I should have added to the above post, a link to the great opinion piece on what presents a threat to freedom. It has a good narrative on what freedoms are and have been and what they are not and what is a threat and what is not.

Strange how we/ I had not heard anything of this ....'style'... af vaccine. - Touted as a "Traditional' as compared to the new-fangled mRNA potions.
Anyway, not exactly an in-depth dissertation, but good enough for us mugs to get an overview.

novovax - Yahoo Video Search results

Then there is the local offering.... but it's inventor appears to have run afoul of People in High Places...

COVID-19 vaccine developer facing sack after refusing jabs because he'''s had his own - ABC News

As an 'outside the box' thought..... What would be the cost of millions of jabbing syringes for our rollout ?
How about the cost of disposal ? - Incineration or landfill ?

And the incidentals, costing of paying jabbing staff, frontline and supporting? infrastructure for pop-ups?
And, who makes the disposable face masks & PPE ? Aren't THEY doing well out of the world !!!

Those face mask makers have done well. Worse ways of making a living than saving lives through PPE.

    Cheers

Odd situation but until his vaccine has been tested and proven to be effective it can't be an approved vaccine.
