NSW 2566 new cases, 227 in hospital, 28 in ICU. An online petition to bring back masks & QR checking in has been started, with 15,000 signatures. Health experts and members of the Premier Perrottet's cabinet are putting pressure on the Premier & health Minister to bring some restrictions back. Cases are surging in the absence of restrictions, and venues all across Sydney have reported bookings cancelled for Xmas. Meanwhile, the Netherlands have imposed a nationwide lockdown. Omicron has been rampant in Europe longer than here, and all we have to do is look there , and that will be us in a week or two. It really is looking like NSW may have opened up to soon, too much.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

It was on the cards, Bob. Many, many, many medical types said we/they shouldn't, but do they ever listen? Not on your Nelly.
It might upset the pollies visit to their beach Houses. SA Premier was all for it publicly but I have a sneaking suspicion he will try to back track. If it is not too late that is.

They like to justify their decision on the fact "We are all different" but in this situation I think not.

Its all about popularity and feathering their own nest,so do you think they would keep the borders closed over Christmas?

    No way.

As i said earlier, chaos is coming to Qld.

But what do you do?Many businesses have been finding it very difficult, then again,it maybe more difficult in another month or so when a huge number of Covid cases appear.

I predict a lock out of NSW residents to QLD after XMAS. Any QLDer who travels south ATM has no come back if they are locked out. Common sense must prevail. [ not so common any more, alas.]

I hope not,we have a place down there we havent been able to get to for around 6 months, and now work is so busy we have no hope of getting there for a while.
And add to that even going for a weekend,or three or four days is a PITA,getting Covid tests, etc,to get back.

I hope I'm wrong. News from Byron is 500 students at " schoolies" have been sent back to Sydney after 4 people tested positive in the caravan park. They gave them rapid antigen tests and told them to self isolate and get a PCR test when they get home. Omicron has a reff of 2 ATM. That's a potential lot of cases. Not sure of the capacity of hospitals in the Byron region, wonder if they would send them here if they needed ICU ?

Looking at it Nationally, there were 4,110 cases in a single day. 110 in ICU Nationally. 73 cases in S.A. 31 in Qld, 18 in the ACT. 1504 in Vic. Be interesting to see the National rise in cases as this progresses . In the UK they were using the nominal figure of 10% of cases were hospitalisations. If NSW gets to 25,000, per day, could put a lot of pressure on the hospital system, and indeed , their already exhausted staff. This may test us.

I'm not sure to be honest. Hopefully it didn't spread too much, otherwise it has just been spread all over the state.
    Cheers
