Omicron can'''t be '''eliminated''' in WA, Health Minister concedes as case numbers jump - ABC News

Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said this was the start of Omicron in WA.
"I think it's clear that we're not going to eliminate Omicron, it's now about how we suppress and manage Omicron," she said

Well we can’t say we didn’t know that was coming. Given they’re expecting to manage this by people doing the right thing, and people are steadfastly refusing to do the right thing, why are we locking people out again?

Because it is one way of NOT adding to the numbers of people doing the wrong thing, It is also a pretty good method of Not importing thousands of new cases into the State.

A minority of people who do the wrong thing is a FAR less dangerous option than opening the floodgates and letting this virus swamp the State wouldn't you think.

Personally I wouldn't know anything about people doing the wrong thing because I only go into town once or twice a month

Yep mate had that in my family also and with close friends. Very common and also very odd when Omicron was touted as being so highly transmissible in droplet form from breathing the same air. Cheers

We were advised by "those upstairs" repeatedly, that if you are not showing any symptoms then there is no need to have Tests.

Didn't, so haven't. But have had 3 Vax each.; 2 x AZ 1 x Fizzer on our allotted days.

As far as I am aware this advice holds good.

So all those thousands of people parked Red Indian fashion around Victoria Park & elsewhere here could have saved their time & idling fuel waiting for up to 9 hours in the very hot weather, I read.

So what would that have told me? "You ain't crook Mr Bee" but 10 minutes later I could have been though but would not have been aware until I queued up with the unwashed for another test in a few months time.

****ing Media again creating panic for no reason!

    Couldn't even get a RAT.

Sounds like in Victoria, if you have been at a place which has had a COVID case, unless you have been in contact with them for 4 hours (like amongst workers) then even though you won’t be considered a close contact you could still get notified. It is then a prompt to encourage you to get a COVID test if you have symptoms.

More important now is to be fully vaccinated (including booster), wearing a mask, and keeping your distance from people.

Contact tracing though is still very important for workers.

The real question is - would you still prefer to know if you have been in contact with someone with COVID so you can decide what you should do?
There is no contact tracing done now so no one’s even going to let you know if you were somewhere where their was a confirmed case so I don’t get the point of checking in either to be honest.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I'm thinking it's an automated process that needs check ins and AFAIK you're only expected to test if you develop symptoms. A bit like a heads up.

It is strange! Similar story, a friend came back from the Hunter, he came back with Delta, the boy came back with Omicron and the 2 girls got nothing despite being in the car for hours and hours with the boys. The on the flip side they've seen cases transmitted by just passing someone with it, and JDNSW's daughter I think it was picked it up having a conversation in the carpark.
    Cheers

I tested (weak) positive (RAT) on Friday after having some symptoms overnight, we were staying at a caravan park on the mid north coast. I travelled back to Sydney with my wife and daughter all wearing masks (N95 for me) so far I'm the only one that is positive.
Three of the family of four we were holidaying with have also tested positive. Their son tested positive on Friday (RAT) after my positive result, he had a slight cough, Father had symptons Saturday morning (PCR) and daughter had no symptoms but was positive (RAT), mother was negative to a RAT. They also travelled back home on Friday.

I suspect that we picked it up when the males made a trip to Bunnings together on Tuesday.

So far I have had mild symptons, a cough, runny nose at times and some aches.

It was my niece, not daughter, but it was a bit more than a conversation in a carpark - they both had their heads in the boot of a car at the same time while breathing heavily, lifting heavy boxes.
