At $4200 i wont be converting the disco to diesel/gas, and having to pay up front and get the money back is stupid how hard would it be for the fitter to apply, get it book you in fit it and you make up the rest. Besides i remember Ron talking about KLR doing them or someone like that at a cost of $3000 for a TDi disco what the hell made the price go up besides this payment from the government. Matt

I did not bother reading through all the previous posts.

But I do like the idea of putting the V8 Disco on gas. Does anyone have any ideas for keeping the 150litre long range tank and still putting it on gas. I want the petrol for the outback trips and the Disco only does about 150km/week so a small gas tank would be fine.
Pity the cant do square gas tanks.

Something like sill tank would be perfect.

Manifold tank on the floor in the cargo area. I was quoted $2500 in Qld six months ago.

I have all the bits for a petrol carbie system in the shed. I have been told for $500 I can get a computer for the Dieselgas system but I would still need it to be programed. Thats the problm as I also know where I can get a self install tested and certified.

    Lpg

My 110 is dual fuel, standard petrol tank with a 60 litre gas tank inside lengthways on the drivers side wheelarch. Ive always wanted more range but dont want another tank inside. Is it possible to run one of these scuba tanks alongside the chassis rail on the drivers side? How big are they? Are they litterally a scuba tank or called that because of the design similarity? Comments appreciated Steve

There was a guy on the news last night from the lpg owners association in WA. He made it quite clear that due to the demand the price of an instalation would go up. This would negate the subsidy and make a few richer as does most subsidies, tax reductions etc made by the government. I just hope there are a few good lpg installers that are prepared to keep their profit margin where it is and just reap the benefits of extra work. Probablly dreaming though and would not be suprised to see the conversion jump to $5 or $6k.
When the lpg excise is inroduced in 2008 no one will want it any way.

    Maggsie,
I don't know if this is of any use to you, but www.parnell.com.au (vic) did my conv (D1) and they rabbited on about getting a contract to fit WA GOVT 4x4 with LPG. Apparently they have a flash patented multipoint sequential injection system.
    Might be worth a look.

BTW, as I already converted some years ago, what I need is an installer willing to do a service and tune, perhaps install a manifold tank and write the invoice up as a new job so I can claim the rebate

Not quite mate the engine has to be decoked of carbon build up for it to work properly and it is tuned by them only, so not as simple as you may think.

Might be of use to someone.

Q: Do you get the rebate if you self install?
