A further update: Rang Parnell Gas in Victoria and asked the question regarding system availability for the Disco 2. The reply was not available in the short to medium term as they are too busy, so I have contacted the Office of Energy here in WA and received great assistance from one of there inspectors. I will be sending an email next week to their principle engineer explaining the problems for D2 owners plus all the research I have undertaken and will be asking for permission to import a front-end system from the U.K. coupled to a locally supplied cylinder. Will update once I receive a reply.

    So just to clarify this.

If I provide and install all of the parts of a second hand LPG system, then the fitter connects the hoses in and certifies it all which will cost roughly $500 from what I can gather, then I am eligible for the $2k rebate from the govt?

    From the http://www.ausindustry.gov.au/ website:

The full grant is available regardless of the cost of conversion or the extra cost of a new dedicated LPG vehicle. For example, the $2,000 is available for a conversion whether you pay $1,800 or pay $3,500.

    Excellent! Thanks for this Ron

    Q. Is Assistance available for vehicle conversions using a second hand LPG system?

    A. Yes - conversions using second hand LPG units are eligible for the grant.

    LPG/Diesel

Has anyone fitted an LPG system to a diesel yet? How does it perform? I have booked my car in for a diesel gas system on thurs and I have kept some accurate fuel usage records over the last few years so I can do some real comparisons on usage. The system is $3960 fitted with one 21 Litre LPG tank under passenger sill. I don't want to take up any room in the cargo area and two sill tanks cost an extra $1000. The one LPG tank should be good for around 600K's which isn't too bad. Usually have to stop for a **** anyway. If anyone has any info I would be greatful.

    Cheers
