Who do you insure with ?

Our fender is currently insured with RACQ. However, they only cover you on formed tracks. I'm certain that on our coming trip there will be times when we won't be on what they consider a "formed track". So, I need insurance that does the following.

    1. Insured everywhere against car damage.
    2. Insure options on the car (bullbar, lockers etc).
    3. Insure things we are carrying (like fridge, tent, camera etc)

Who do you use and why?

I am currently with a broker called TCIS. this is the mob that 4wd australia (ANFWDC) uses and one has to be a club member to be in it.

To the best of my knowledge they will cover you anywhere in Australia at anytime. This also includes 4wd parks, beaches and river crossings (i asked)

They do agreed value my series one Disco is covered for 22k, i tried lowering the agreed amount to 15k but the saving was only $40. I use to ring around but evening ringing the same company has resulted in higher preimums.

As for claims only two in 6 years
Dingos run at Levuka - Custom rear bar for car
Bayside twist or run Rover Park - ARB bullbar and lightforce 170 spotties.

They also have policies for campers, camping equipment etc, and i think now the do the full range.

No I don't get any kick backs from them, I use to be the insurance rep in our club.

I recently had renewal notice for my range rover 1993 worth $11,000 non add on on the vehicle bog standard for $756, a internet search produced for the same vehicel on comprehensive insurance prices ranging from $350 to $970 from different companies all with same offers regarding coverage, guarantees on repairs all did there quote on market value of vehicle

Variables that affected policy price were

Age of nominated driver and their driving record
Age of any other driver going to drive vehicle
Whether vehicle was fully owned or hire purchase or lease
Where vehicle was garaged at night

I couldn't see why l should pay more than $350 insurance for the vehicle

I am with Shannons, the G O G G O people . Cheapest quote that I got, and according to them, covered anywhere. All add ons covered as well, agreed value, about $350 per year in premiums.

Ditto. I've just insured my P38 with them for $15000 (I have 2 other cars with them also).

I'm with DGA Insurance (Australian 4WD Insurance). This mob, like TCIS are specialists. I think the big difference is that TCIS is more expensive, but they are also agreed value.

our disco's are with nrma seem to be hassle free. The 90 is with just car insurance due to the fact they could not read ie they read 90 as 110 when i applied on line, tcis refused me as did nrma for the 90. not looking forward to trying to renew later this year.

Were with AMMI with both our cars, they have been hassle free and every year our policy drops in price. So we are happy. Suncorp we have everything but our insurance due to the fact after our 1st year tried to Jack it up by $150 bucks and couldnt explain after many phone calls why.
