Hi Ron, if it’s split at the bottom, it is probably pulling air in as it cools and as it expands through warming while charging, it’s forcing electrolyte out.

The electrolyte is usually a gel form but it still liquifies.

Next, what do you call high current charging, because as your battery is a 100 A/H your battery is rated at 20 amp maximum for charging, so anything over 20 amps is not recommended.

Thanks Tim. I wonder if I can seal the split?

High current? Whatever the SC40 and my alternator will supply - or the 16A setting on my 4-stage charger.

First an update. I repaired the tyre chuck. It had been badly swaged together.

Now another bitch. The roof rack I bought off eBay and kindly picked up by Rovercare, then brought up from him to Canberra by Disco Steve - then delivered by Scouse was missing a couple of clamps to hold it on to the roof. No problem, these things happen.

So I ordered the brackets and the special Torx screws and flanged nuts. The rack is made to hold the flanged nuts as it is very difficult to get a spanner to them when fitting the rack. The way the rack is designed, one doesn't need a spanner.

So eight items ordered (and to be sure I'd get the right bits, I even emailed a couple of pics of what I needed). I received the bits today.

    2 Brackets - check!
    2 Torx screws - missing
2 Flanged nuts - no. Supplied nylocs and washers.
2 Lock washers - missing (not a big deal)

    Gaahhh!

Yes, I can go to a bolt shop and get what I want but I thought I may as well order all the bits from the rack manufacturer.

Its your head and it does meet the standards
I have a helmet that has no Australian Standard sticker whatsoever and I'd never have a problem using it.

It has a Snell SA95 sticker though.

    Alas! So true!

I read of a bloke who was in a plane crash. He was flown out of the accident site and that plane crashed as well.

Curses! Just before Christmas I bought a new leather office chair for the computer room.

I leant back last night at home and went crashing to the floor when one of the 5 spokes in the base broke off. Maybe there was a reason it was on special as a clearance item.

At least I didn't hit the aquarium behind me and toss it all over the floor.

    Bugger, bugger, bugger!

I've been in the process of fitting a new TV antenna and recabling the house with RG6 for digital TV. I've been having problems with reception in one room. I thought it was the digital set top box but after swapping stuff around I found that wasn't the problem.

Today I sorted it out - the splitter I had in the roof space is open circuit on one output. Oh, well. Back to the supplier tomorrow.

Don't ask how many times I've had the tiles off and back on (owing to the rain) the roof.

One of my BIL's businesses is importing and wholesaling computers and electronics. The manufacturers consider it cheaper to accept a 10% failure rate, exchange under warranty no questions asked, than do quality control. They simply expect one item in ten to fail.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Just out of interest... some Digital tuner cards actually use a system where the antennae circuit is open. I had to buy a special "DC Blocker" so my tuner cards couldn't detect the short and work! They are German cards though so it must depend...
