Crumpler are very kindly sending me two replacement dividers at no cost.

    That's good customer service.

The supplier of the solar panel has, today, agreed it's faulty but they have no replacements available.

They are offering a store credit. I don't want store credit, I want a refund. I thought I can insist on a refund. Does anyone know for sure?

Not 100% sure but try bluffing them with the old ‘Australian Consumer Law says’ this and that and see if they give.

If the goods are faulty they must replace or refund.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

If there is a "major failure" you can insist on a repair, refund or replacement. It is your option, not their's. Google Australian Consumer Law and select the .gov.au one.

On this subject, over the last few months the new Tom Tom GPS I bought from Officeworks last August started switching off a couple of months ago - disconnect power and reconnect and it would go again. Gradually the length of time it took to fail kept dropping, until a week or two ago it stopped even getting therough the boot cycle. Tested it on a different vehicle, and my desktop, and with another power lead to rule out power supply issues. Same on all.

So on Monday I took it back. Five minutes of explanation, "Do you want a refund or a replacement?" When I said I would like one that works, he called the storeroom and had one at the front desk two minutes later. No hesitation or problems.

I haven't opened the box yet - been in Sydney for medical reasons, but I expect it works!

Did you pull the little tab that isolates the batteries out before you hung them in the Sun?

I had a new solar system installed today to upgrade from a single to dual 3kW systems. Why dual?

Well, we've had three inverters fail in 7 years. Now, if one system fails, one will still work.

I just went out to check them. One is showing a fault! Fortunately, the fault code indicates a comms failure between the inverter and the WiFi module. The inverter is still putting power to the grid.

I guess a phone call Monday before I pay the balance of the purchase price might be in order.

Yeah, wouldn’t be paying the balance until it’s working 100%
