Depends on the fridge really I suppose. 'High' temp or Freezer section? Some could have (& I think it unusual for a normal domestic fridge) a low voltage heater embedded in the door frame or in your case the door, to reduce condensation &/or to stop the gasket sticking & pretty much the same as the Rail Heater on a Supermarket freezer although I have never seen one on a domestic fridge. No idea why voltage would normally be fed to a door though.

The cabinet shell these days is sometimes used as part, if not all of the Condenser Heat Exchanger so can be warm but never noticed ours being hot. It is an Aussie built Westinghouse. Does it have an inbuilt Ice maker?

Maybe my "Professional Eastern Seaboard Colleagues " may be able to throw some light on this as I have been out of the Domestic refrigeration side of things for quite a few years & many things have changed.

That'll be 200 quid thanks. Kerrching.

I've always bought the best quality I could afford, apparently quality doesn't relate to expense.
The new fridge is some brand I've never heard of, before.
The previous Westinghouse would get hot on the door edge, it didn't have an ice maker in the door.
Desmond, the cheque's in the mail.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

It is very refreshing in this day & age to meet someone who pays their bills on time.

I'm pleased it is a cheque as I don't take plastic, Ian.

Btw, I have wondered about your User Name.

Is it V8i and the rest is andrew or annette even () or is it simply V8 Ian?
    No, I don't do Crosswords.

Dunno, maybe it is just me.

I've just had the polycarbonate panels in my garage roof replaced under insurance after being damaged during a hailstorm earlier this year.

After the job was completed, the roofer said the sheets were on upside down and showed me the label which said "This side up. UV protected, hail resistant."

He said that because the sheets were upside down, the UV protection probably didn't work thus affecting the hailstone resistance.

I think the garage was re-roofed and the panels installed about 5-7 years ago.

I'm not a roofer and have no idea if he is correct.

EDIT: I just did a bit of research and the install instructions from a manufacturer says the UV layer is on one side so they must be installed with the correct side up.

Just to prove it's not just items I select....

I've just returned from a holiday in China. On the return journey, I lowered the tray for dinner. It was a bit wonky but usable - so I thought.

The flight attendant brought a red wine, I put it on the table and immediately had a wet lap. Gahh, the table was more than a bit wonky. it wasn't attached on one side.

It reminded me of another flight where the attendant tried to fill my plastic cup with red wine. You've heard of bottomless cups? Well, mine was. My jeans were white or beige - and I got off the plane with a red crotch.

Sue the arse off them. At the very least for a Saville Row suit.

It makes one wonder what else Engineering has left unattached.
