Not having read it, but it would be a bit of tongue in cheek, just like the recipes for Camel stew that Jack Absalom wrote in his cook book. Having said that feral cats are detrimental and your wife as an RSPCA volunteer should appreciate that. I am a shooter as are many others, but do not condone unneccessary suffering and believe in clean kills where possible. Feral cats and dogs are top of my list when we do go shooting (not Dingo's) as they do extensive damage and if someone wants to utilise them as a resource to eat well and good, not my cup of tea.
I do not for a minute condone this sort of thing against domestic animals.
Anyone who finds that offensive needs to go to an abbatoir for the day, especially if they eat supermarket meat and complain about shooter/hunters. Nothing better than a nice feed of Skippy.
Maybe even a dash of Koala or Platypus.
Just kidding, Kangaroo is a great feed though and an under utilised resource.

I feel like I have just turned up to the party as everyone else is leaving...

Surely skinning a cat (by whatever means) is not cruel, just unsavoury. Cruelty would be an issue only depending on how the cat died or was killed in the first place.

Maybe it died of natural causes
or maybe it jumped off the roof after a bird and got cought in power lines
or maybe it was humanely put down by the vet
or maybe it had a congenital heart defect and died of fright when confronted by a dog...

None of these are cruel ways for a cat to kick the bucket are they?

    I totally agree...

2 minutes either side on a flame-grill then two more minutes to ensure it's properly dead then yum.

One of my all time favourite arguments to have with the anti-shooting brigade who eat meat and buy it in nice shiny packs in the supermarket.

I can appreciate the view of vegans, but any meat/fish eater that wants to tell me it's cruel to hunt but who eats nearly extinct fish like Cod, veal, venison, chickens, eggs, etc. had better be prepared for a lesson in modern food prep.

wasn't a quote from the wankee constitution. It's just a fact we have the ability to discuss what we want not like in some countries where ya get jailed or worse for having an opinion.
