Not implying anything here but there are many factors.

Licence cancellations, xpca priors, previous claims, place of residence, garage or street parking, age of drivers and if policy is nominated drivers only, windscreen option, hire car option, agreed or market etc.

I'm paying around $600 per annum with CGU. That is for market value, nominated drivers, no frills policy so not really a good deal at all.

Ring around and see if they are being unreasonable.

    Aami - Dont Do It!!!!!

When I rang AAMI yesterday the girl I spoke to said they couldn't insure my '69 SIIA because "it's not in our system. The first landrover we have is 1980". I've had a gutful of these tossers (AAMI that is), I'm moving all my insurance (currently all with AAMI) to someone else - maybe Shannons?

Be aware that AAMI will use the cheapest quote for repairs. I have a 2 month ongoing debacle with my D2 because "Instant Windscreens" (who are the AAMI windscreen contract) are a bunch of incompetent ar*se-clowns. They are still repairing the damage caused by an incorrectly installed windscreen. When I contacted AAMI to inact the "lifetime warranty" on repairs I was told I had to deal with it through Instant Windscreens, AAMI could do nothing. So much for "warranty", huh?

Anyway - I will never use AAMI, or any other company that doesn't allow me to choose the repairer, again. As with everything in life - if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

No it can’t be license I’ve never been fined in 16 years of driving not even parking

Post code maybe, but my patrol was $900 to insure with about 12k of extras insured vehicle amount 38k plus extras so its not post code I don’t think.

It was stolen but that was in the wife’s name

The only two things I think it comes to is cost of parts and that the vehicle security for the loan

Would have to agree with you akelly, I'm with Justcar... underwritten by AAMI and the guys that fixed my car were clowns as well. it went back about 3-4 times and i'm still not entirely happy with what they have done

Problem for me is driving a D2 V8 and only being 23, Justcar are just about the only ones that will insure me !!

I'm with Allianz. Here's what they say:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding your Motor Vehicle Insurance policy.

Allianz will cover your motor vehicle as long as it is driven in the manner which the manufacturer designed it for.
You are covered against accidental loss and damage as long as you are obeying the rules of the road, or of the beach, and not "bush bashing".

We may not pay your claim if you do not take all reasonable precautions to prevent injury, loss or damage, including securing your vehicle against unauthorised entry when it is unattended. It is also a condition of this policy that your vehicle be kept in good repair.

Should you have any further questions please don't hesitate to email us at customerservice@allianz.com.au

Vague and I take NO comfort from this!

CGU can bite me. Last year cost me $774.00, for a 40 year old rating 1 driver with anywhere off-road chucked in. When I bought my Disco it was bog-standard. My policy is coming due and I rang them today to inform them of the various mods including a suspension change which lifted my Disco 40mm, I was told their underwriters will only permit 30mm. For my honesty I was told that a note would be placed on my file about the phone call and that my policy would be cancelled in 7 days, enough time for me to find other insurance, and that a refund would be provided. So my advice to you guys insured with CGU is to check your policies VERY carefully. Thanks for the thread though, looks like I will check out TCIS and DGA. Oh, Allianz wouldn't touch me either.
