    Zackly!

Well, she'll find out tomorrow when I drag it out of the garage to try to start it.

I don't know where the battery fits - that's the first job.

I crawled under it yesterday and it looks pretty sound. There is, unfortunately, no PTO. There is only a propshaft from about halfway back and out the rear of the rear crossmember.

I'm not quite sure where to start - front or back. Take off the tray and clean up all the back end and paint the rear half of the chasis (and fit my new shocks!) or strip the front end and do it.

The back might be quicker and I'll see something for my efforts.

Today my wife noticed the Landie was gone from the neighbour's across the road.

I inadvertently left the LH garage door open this morning (the Landie is behind the RH door). She looked out and said "A Land Rover wouldn't fit in that garage with all your junk"

We'll see what happens tomorrow when I drag the Landie out to try to get the engine running.

    G'day P38arover

The battery on a 2a Landy will be in one of 2 places, on the right hand side between the steering box and the radiator on a battery tray that incorporates the Oil Bath Aircleaner, OR under the Pass seat, lift the seat pad and there will be alid with a front clip/lever, the cables will come through from the engine bay, Is ther a blank-off plate at the back of the G/box-transfer, if not when you have it running and engage gear it will empty the transfer on the backyard, the blank off plate is about 6" dia held on by 6 nuts, it also has a small roller bearing in the centre of the inner face, there is apaper gasket, but a Vita-Brits packet type will do gearbox/transfer oil is EP90, check clutch/brake fluid, (should be a tin dual brake/clutch reservoir) if early series 2/2a starter is press type under dash solenoid.

    cheers

UncleHo, yes there is a blanking plate over the PTO location.

I had a look at the Expo on Sunday and saw trhge battery was in the location you described but it looks like it won;t fit there on mine.

I'll take soem under bonnet pics tomorrow.

Unfortunately I don't have a 2A manual, only a genuine SIII manual. I had a look in the Markets ion this forum but the 2A doesn't appear to be covered.

Hoever, I did see on eVilBay, this CD version from Tassie for $15: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Landrover-Lan...QQcmdZViewItem

It does. I could almost fit my centre pole tent on the back!
