This is a photo taken of Kabul city, from the hill overlooking Share-naw. I used to work from a compound near the base of this hill, more to the right. At the time, I was living at the foot of the hill on the right of the photo. This was in a suburb called Parte-Karwan. I hated driving the to and fro each day, armoured up, packing an M4 and Glock on safe as you drove. The traffic in the streets are nothing less than chaotic. I saw the aftermath of a couple of bombs, thankfully we were never targeted but, that was more a matter of luck:
This is the 'Welcome' sign as you enter Kabul Province from the south...lets you know you are in a 'special place'.
The remainder are photos taken in the older parts of town:
Markets alongside the Kabul River:
This one was along Jalalabad road at the end of winter:

too many things hanging off them which could damage a pedestrian who strays onto the road. But you would win the argument for the parking spot!!
