The Jags from the era were great cars, but are so expensive now. I tend to agree with my friend about the Rover, in that it has a really interesting style, a great interior and it's perfectly usable in original form. They are also not too expensive, which I suppose is one benefit to wanting something a bit different.

I'd love one myself, but have my hands full trying to get one Land Rover properly sorted out (plus keeping 6 bikes in order, renovating a house, spending hours browsing AULRO.....)

Very nice, although maybe in a different colour. That's the problem when you start looking at cars that are not shaped liked bricks - stuff like colour and trim and whether the chrome is pitted suddenly becomes important

Just a point of clarification. The "B" is P5B stands for Buick - All P5B are V8. The good thing if you're not a purist, you can easily replace the 3.5 with either a Land Rover 3.9 or 4.6 and even replace the early Borg Warner auto with a ZF 4 speed using the LR bellhousing.

Send me a PM and I can give you a phone number in Canberra who will put your request on the RoverNet email list.

A poor copy of the P76 coupe they never released because of industrial sabotage by the big 2 and political interference.

The SD1 are unreliable rust buckets and not a patch on the P6B before them, once again a result of political interference although this one was the Thatcher Government and the British Leyland debacle.

I enjoy driving my Saloon and I can recommend them as a daily driver classic. They are well engineered, the last of the hand made rovers. Mine is very quiet and the ride is very good given the rear leaf spring arrangement. They are straight forward to work on and so far mine hasnt missed a beat. Parts are still available, but you might find yourself bying spares from the UK however the prices are reasonable. I'm in the perth rover club and there is only one coupe forsale but it's partially restored and in bits for $1500 (at least it was forsale in the march magazine - dunno if it still is). Here is my Saloon - it's taken up most of my weekends over the past 4 years to get it to this stage. Still some work to do thou. Hope you like her..
