Just look back to the ice age! i believe it is a natural cycle, and YES we may be helping it, but i am not too concerned!
It is possible you are right about the jobs - but it sounds awfully like the jobs that were going to be created when the timber industry in this area was dismantled to create national parks. These jobs have not appeared, the short term jobs for timber workers lasted for a couple of years and then stopped. Now we have dying towns when their major industry has gone. In this case the boom in tourism and green jobs that was forecast as a result of the creation of the national parks simply has not happened (all we have is mismanaged parks and increased fire hazards) - it was a total furphy by the green movement, and I am afraid that I am sceptical about your prediction as well.

Of course not it will only affect your and my great grand children and the follow generations
That it is what happens to many people, they do not like or whant to believe that we are ruining the planet because they live in a country where they can have almost what ever they want.
I just wonder how many of the scepticals would think diferent if they were born and live in countries deprived of the life style that we have here
In any case I am glad that I am In AURLO, apart of a very friendly group of people we have a pool of scientist who have the knowledge to disput any study done by other reputable education institutes and their scientist.
Excuse my spanglish
Cheers
As I have said before, the only large scale alternative to coal as an energy source, that can be available to anyone regardless of where they live, is nuclear power. This can power all our electricity grids and generate the hydrogen necessary for the next generation of motor vehicles.
Solar and wind power are bit players when it comes to large scale power generation around the world.

.It should be noted that most of the skeptics have vested interests in disproving climate change
Having worked for 9 years in the largest state owned scientific establishment in NSW I wish to make some comments.
1 Scientists spend a large amount of their time looking for funding for projects that they can lead. In the organisation I belonged to , if they could not get funding they had to assist other scientists.
2 It is not surprising that money is available from funding organisations to support studies that "confirm" climate change, and little or no money is available for studies that aim to debunk climate change.
3 The "vested interest" of scientists is to lead projects, write scholarly papers that are published and get promoted on the basis of their output.
Scientists that "rock the boat" often end up without funding and when the next round of cuts comes, guess who goes.
It was interesting last year? when 50 "independent" scientists wrote to the government demanding action on climate change. A journalist drilled down to find whether they were truly "independent " . AFAIR he found that the scientists actually all belonged/were paid by 11 organisations, eg CSIRO, AFFA , ABARE etc .
While I accept that climate change is happening and I try to reduce my resource use as much as possible, I am appalled at the lies and half truths pedalled by the vested interests without shame.
For example I guess my pet hobby horse is the vilification of storage HW systems. If run off peak , they are responsible for NO additional pollution, as the power stations must run all night anyway. YET governments, solar salesmen etc , all get away with saying simplistically that to reduce energy use they should be replaced by heat pumps or solar.
It is total BS, and neither can be justified economically or from a pollution perspective.
Don't asjk about the nonsensical solar rebate scheme which a government commissioned expert has recommended to the government to be discontinued.

Maybe some of the leaders in these countries could do something about the effect that their populations and energy usage is having on the environment.
When I think of all the $$ that have been generated in the middle east through oil and look at the standard of living for the vast majority of their citizens it is a disgrace.
With their annual GDP they should have the best schools hospitals, roads transport and infrastructure in the world. But a few sheiks have swollen swiss bank accounts and their people live in squalor

Hi Chenz, while I agree with what you say, it may surprise you to find that the country that supplies the USA with the greatest amount of crud actually has one of the highest living standards in world.
John, job losses in the Forestry/Timber industry may be because they sell their woodchip logs for $9/tonne delivered, no business can survive if you sell your produce for less money than it costs you to produce it, NSW State Forest lost 14 million dollars this finacial year. Why should NSW Taxpayers subsidise State Forests just so they can play Lumberjacks.
Since woodchipping started 99% of NSW woodmillers have disappeared, was that caused by NPWS, Regards Frank.
Hi Philip et al,
I have been involved with all aspects of a sustainable lobster fishery in Vic that has been around for over 100 yrs, for over 15 years now. Most recently as an industry exec, but with strong ties to management, research, compliance, etc. My view is that we're all on the same side.
Re: Climate change. PA is quite correct. If you are a scientist you need to include the specific words 'climate', 'environment' and 'change' before you will be considered for a grant with no industry support.
Last count there were 18 agencies handing over money for climate change related projects.
Have attended a briefing from the head honchos of the Dept of Climate Change and was appalled that any questioning of their 'prognosis' was akin to heresy. This really confirmed to me that the whole deal was like some new religion, rather than science.
cheers, DL
