Easy way for QLD Gov to make money.

Introduce a MOT system, like they have in the UK, every car over 3 years needs to be tested at, a approved garage, not only will this bring in money for the cashed strapped Gove, but more to the point it makes sure theres safer cars on the roads. No more piles of rubbish running around with missing bumpers, lights, etc etc.......

sorry but I would rather pay my high rego prices rather than getting my car inspected. Not worried about the Kingswood passing (except emmisions) but i dunno about my Series IIA....

It's all well and good for the people with rather new cars but not very fair to us people with rattly old landrovers which have average breaks at the best of times, not to mention the oil leaks

I understand the points about older cars etc, but what about all those that have bold tyers, no brakes, chuck out black smoke, these are dangerous, not only to those idiots who drive them, but also the rest of us.

These MOT test, work in the rest of the world.....

Or why not put more speed cameras on the motoways, loads a money there....

Unroadworthy vehicles are not a significant factor in the injuries & fatalities of vehicle accidents.

This have been pointed out many times by the Victorian Government when the cry from the motoring groups i.e. VACC......ask for compulsory roadworthy tests.

Like it has been stated...its just another way of ripping cash out of your pocket.

In NSW the cars only have to comply with the rules off the day they where built , not any new rules/ emision tests etc, so a 1960's SII would not need seat belts and the braking test would be far more lenient than that off a 2000-6 defender( hardest thing is to stop in a straight line). It only fail's those poorly maintained cars and after a few inspection place's get prosecuted/sued after prangs for OK'ing bald tyred crapola with no brakes, lights and indicators the rest all test farly evenly.

Why do you think it would make money for the goverment?

The cost in the UK covers the time of the garage to do the test.
