do milford do a cargo barrier for the defender/county? Something that would bolt in behind the front row seats? Would be better than nothing if a roll cage couldnt be added legally.

For sure it is a design from some Italian studio![]()
Cheers to everyone for their help!![]()
I think for the moment i'll just build myself hoop behind the back seat that goes through the floor and to the chassis (and which can also double up as a cargo barrier), and one day get something built for the A pillars.
Thanks again!
Hi,roll cages for a Defender are a value for money saftety item.
I go the salavage auctions in brisbane and watch other writtern off auctions and the number of rolled Defenders this year is at about 7.
When the Defender rolls at speed there is NO strength in the roof, windscreen area,so you can draw a line from the front mudguard to the rear door and the roof will crush down to at least this line.in the US i see more Defenders being fitted with full external foll cages. There are some photos on the web showing a Defender that got hit in the side by a large truck,The Defender was knocked onto its side and slid/pushed down the road by the truck. Thanks to its roll cage no one was hurt and the Defender was rebuilt.
I was a passenger in a Defender that rolled compleatly, ended up sitting on its roof, on a off road track many years ago,the defender was going slow and it rolled so easy.
Land rover has made the springs of the latest Defender more stiffer to reduce the body roll on road, this has meant less wheel movement off road, but they are still completly rolling over on the roads.
Defender owners should be shown a movie off there Defenders after they have rolled, they might then drive more slowerly and much more carfully.
As for the building of roll over protection i hope to start a full 8 point "ladder/plank"cage for my Defender 110 next week, not allowed to call it a roll cage.
All fixing points will end up welded onto the chassie,Should take about a month to build.
If anyone thinks that there Defender wont roll then talk to someone that has been in one or go the the salvage auctions and look at one that has rolled, not pretty.
Have fun building your cage,
More and more everyday on road defenders overseas are haveing cages fitted to them.
Surly its not a fashion thing.
