Eric and his girlfriend had just cleared customs in Brisbane after arriving on some ship.

This jollopy rolls in, with the occupants declaring "We here for the club meeting. Just in from Germany"

Eric had a suit job in Germany with corporate America and drove an Audi. With the global downturn, he decided to go touring in Oz for a year, until things improve.

The club members gave his truck the once over.

Eric claims the ex - ambulance defender is from the Dutch army and did a tour of duty in the Fauklands War.

Just a few of the mods I noticed:

    LPG
    Reversing camera
Heater installed - won't need that in QLD
Bed and sink, cupboards in back
Sand boards on the side act as fold down tables
Spot lights on the front, turn with the steering
Engine cranking arm stores on the bullbar
2.2+ motor petrol I think (disco driver)
Servo system added, so his girlfriend could operate the brakes

Club members took some happy snaps, handed out stickers and had a chat with the crew.

Eric has spent a heap of time on mods, and other than a bit of snow, has never been offroad. Welcome to Oz.

We gave him some tips on Sand driving as he is heading to Fraser Island.

If you see these guys around say hi. I told Eric to get on the forum if he needs any help, so keep an eye out guys.

    Regards

That would be right, they were trying to get a service done at MR Automotive in Redcliffe.

Very late to re-join this part of the thread.

Unlike the US military who use their LHD vehicles everywhere*, the British use LHD vehicles in countries where LHD is the national rule, including the forces in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

It seems that Eric's vehicle was a Brit LHD vehicle.

Given that the Falkland Islands were a British territory, it is unlikely that the Brits would have taken LHD soft skinned vehicles to the war.

    * The US Navy even drove on the RHS side of their base at North West Cape (Exmouth) WA and crossed sides when they drove out the gate!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Great looking bit of kit!
    Shonky,

I've only got 4 available over here....BUT....they are only on a 'come and collect' basis:

Eric and lili are now in Melbourne and have managed to break the 109.

They have gone to the dark side and bought a Toymotor to finish the trip.

As a result the ambulance is up for sale , somehat stripped out from when you guys saw it but still a going concern.

If it's not sold , it goes to the crusher to comply with Customs requirements for imported vehicles on a Carnet de passage.

Would be great for someone to rescue this!

Axles , axles ,axles , prop shafts , diff? and bits but all rebuilt.

They then noticed a crack in the chassis that is apparently repairable but they've run out of $ and time and selling all their accessories and bits for cash and buying another vehicle was their preferred option.

It's available in Melbourne as a drivable concern ( minus the front disc brakes ) for $ 2500
