We are looking at thinking about the possibility of perhaps one day getting rid of SWMBOs Laser. A VE SV6 (second hand, manual trans) is on the list of possible replacements.

The seat is adjusted all the way down, everyone who drives it says the same thing.

LandyAndy: The highway patrol in NSW pretty much only buying the VE at the moment. I saw my first FG XR6T the other night.

The fords just dont have the brakes to do the job, even with the Brembos they still get massive fade when put through some urgent duties stuff.

Maybe they have it sorted now but thats why it has taken a while to get them in NSW.

WA Police banned V8s due to the high number of serious and fatal Police accidents.
They then discovered that the hoons could easily loose a V6 dunnydoore.
Enter the XR6 Turbo chase car,go figure!!!
We have 2 FG XR6 Turbos in town, both have the candy car graphics.

I guess the decision makers don't realise the XR6 Turbos are faster than the XR8s .

But the rego's cheaper 'cause its a six

One of my brothers has the latest FG turbo whatever, nice car, absolutely fang's,but it aint for me.I think it's got a 6 speed ZF,similar to D3/D4.

    I prefer the Clubby,or the D2.

Whatever floats your boat, I just hate the lazy interior design with the switches etc on the centre console, and the handbrake in a dodgy cutout so that it can be easily mirrored for LHD markets. Also the intense RED instrument lighting really irritates me.

That's much more to do with fleet pricing & availability than anything else.

Top speed, sure BUT the XR8 has that instant power on tap with nice linear delivery that goes FOREVER, while the XR6 has a bit of turbo lag. I'd rather drive the V8 day to day.

Haven't driven a VE at night, so I can't comment on instrument lights. I think at this stage the "Boss" has decided to keep her Laser anyway.

I think you would find the XR6T is quicker down the quarter as well...
Having said that, if I was buying one it would be the V8 every day.
