						Hi Peter,
Yep I know its the tail end of the cyclone season (although I don't think cyclones are usually that late - I hope I just didn't put the moccha on myself!!!!) but I'm more concerned about 'The Wet' season and road closures. However I have to be in Darwin for work by 1 March so I don't have too much choice.
My route will be Gold Coast - Adelaide - Darwin and I'm hoping to time my arrival in Darwin with car and caravan as close to the end of Feb as possible. If there is flooding I may be in some difficulty.
Cheers
George

						Hi mowog,
Apparently 3 or 4 have recently been fitted to D4's at the dealer I'm using. I suggest emailing OL or looking at their detailed catalogue (hard copy) that shows all the hardware, pictures etc albeit on a D3. The arse end of a D4 and D3 in the spare wheel space ain't much different I guess. I believe the manfacturer is Outback, Jandacott Western Australia. Their website isn't specific but there is contact details there.
Hi Mowog, GeorgeK,
See attached pics that the vendor sent of his D3 and the long range tank he fitted.
Hi George,
Thanks for your polite correction of my term to "cyclone".It looks like I may be becoming lazy.
Your route appears better than I imagined (which was you heading counter-clockwise, essentially around the coast, from GC to Darwin).
One advantage of your route is that you will be largely travelling on bitumen (with side excursions, I'm sure). This will allow you to maintain flexibility in your plans.
Have a great trip,
Peter
Hi GeorgeK,
LR tank and swing arm fitted and all good - easy use of swing arm with gas strut. The first fill of the tank + main saw me pump 167 litres - not too sure what the actual capacity is but expect the auxillary tank to be 100l plus - will run the main down to reserve and fill again to get feel for the overal tank capacity - I did get 1000kms out of the auxillary tank before the main inicator started to move. This was with mixed driving highway/town and about an average of 10.0l/100km. I'm a light foot on the throttle!!
The swing arm is rock solid, with no vibration after a full day on the dirt. There is a few inches more clearance at the rear now as the tank profile isn't as wide as the 255/60/R18 tyre that it replaced.
Will post some pictures over the next weekend
