A bit of that has been covered by the extended warranty, but it's the inconvenience of being without the car for a total of about a month now, and the fact that we no longer trust it to get us anywhere.

I know what you mean- must be incredibly frustrating. I have been fortunate in that my power loss has only occurred once so far (March long weekend). However it's still hard to trust the car completely. Have you got access to a (small) independent LR specialist? I agree with an earlier comment from Garry that the (large) dealers sometimes appear not to know what they are doing and try replacing things apparently randomly (unless a computer tells them exactly what is wrong)! Good luck, David

Just an update....The dealer has replaced the high pressure fuel pump, and reckons that will solve the problem. Hopefully this will be it now. They're going to drive it a bit over the next couple of days, and we'll go and pick it up at the end of the week.

What prompted this action - were there faults recorded for low fuel pressure or something similar?

Not sure exactly. I'll get the full run down when we pick it up. The guy said on the phone that their testing had led them to that.

    Engine Faults

Have experienced all of the mentioned faults during the last 3 years or so, many times. '06, SE,diesel auto. Went 38000 kms fault free until put on Dealers computer, then the trouble started. Engine either stops suddenly or goes into "limp" mode with all of the lights & bongs, occurs in heavy traffic & highway driving. Fortunately so far it has restarted after removing key, makes one wonder for how long. Dealers & 1 independent have run the computer checks but never come up with a reason. Have tried all the usual fixes suggested on D3 & AULRO sites including replacing a perfectly good battery. Vehicle has never been in deep water or mud or been pressure washed. One member mentioned S+dealer, well we've been there many times, once for the brake recall where they left the master cylinder & traction control assembly swinging in the breeze & after the High Pressure Fuel Pump recall when the capscrews for the engine & transmission bash plates either fell out or were loose. In my opinion I dont think LR have any idea how to fix this very common problem & i've never met one of their dealers who would tell you the truth.
Last resort is to buy a Faultmate & carry in the vehicle.

    Latest from me,
LR have replaced the fuel pressure sender which didn't work. Yesterday I picked it up after they have replaced the fuel pump. luckily I opted for the extended warantee a few weeks ago. So far so good. It got to a stage of breaking down every 3-5 minutes. I'll let you know if it goes again.
