SupporterDampier Peninsula - well worth a visit - before the taxpayer seals the last 90km of dirt. We spend some time at Pender Bay (Whalesong - only half a dozen campsites, right on the cliff overlooking the water) and Cygnet Bay (sandy campsites, but well-spaced out. Nice restaurant and infinity pool at the farm about 1km from the camping area). We hired a small boat there for a day, the fishing only a couple of miles offshore is spectacular. Cape Leveque itself is pretty busy, but nice beaches on the east side (a bit sharky on the west side).

SubscriberFixed it for you...Ended up lending my old D2 to the guys I was going with, as the weather wouldn't have been friendly to their 2WD station wagon! Quite nice having my two Discos out together, before I prepare the D2 for sale.
The D2 is a 2004 3.9 V8 in Java Black. Nice for it's age, but the D4 is quite a step up.....

SubscriberGreat weather except for the night after this photo. Blew a gale and got 9mm rain but all over by morning. Roads dried by the afternoon. Glad we were in a van that night.

.... bought a D4 as suggested and picked it up today. Thanks for the responses to the original thread.
2014 SDV6 HSE in Ipanaema Sand (try describing that colour to an insurer - is it silver? is it bronze?) with triple sunroofs, blind spot monitoring and surround cameras, 52,000kms and extended warranty.
It's quite different to what we were driving!
(I should also add that it's a credit to the previous owners because, although they clearly had young kids, the interior was in really good condition, in contrast to some we saw that had been trashed)
