OK - my first post - I'm a new member.
I bought this second hand, lowish k's and in pretty good nick - still kitting it up. YM2010 D4 TDV6 with an e-locker (yes, they work). So far I've added a Traxide DB system and the Darche Intrepidor II rooftop (comfy but fiddly to pack up) Thinking about more bits as I go.

SupporterGood stuff! How do you go travelling without a bullbar? Any near misses yet? I’ve not yet put one on mine but thinking seriously about it based on what everyone says
Actually, I've never had a bullbar in my life and I've clocked around 2 million k's in vehicles big and small, fast and slow. My belief is that most animals are active in the early morning and evening and I ease off, I become extra watchful - and since I no longer drive at night I consider my risk is low. I slow down for cattle - too unpredictable. City driving is where a bar would handy but on the back end.
I'd only get a bar so I could fit a winch.
A winch would be a handy thing.
Winches are a bigger topic than bars.
If there was a way to fit a winch without fitting a bar that'd be really useful.
When i first got the D4 i thought the same.Had 3 D2's,all had bars,hit nothing,made sure i didn't drive dawn,dusk or at night.
Two hand winches in the family so the winch was sorted with no bar.
For various reasons,we started to do some night runs to the property,650K's away,so decided to get a bar.Knew a guy who worked at ARB,so got a super price.Hit nothing, was very careful, and the roads to the property have scrub cleared both sides most of the way. Also, generally by the time we hit the areas where the roos are ,its an hour or two past dusk,so a bit safer anyway.
Then one day,SWMBO cut her hand badly while i was out checking the dams, and looking for pigs.
Bandaged her up as well as possible,we jumped in the Disco and drove the 40K to the nearest hospital, right on dusk, the worse time to drive on country roads.
Of the hundreds of roos i saw or dodged, there was one i didn't see,she screamed, and the bar took the full force,i didn't even see it until it hit.
That would have been a show stopper for sure without the bar.Luckily we didn't run over it,as it was quite large.
Twenty five stitches later,all good.
My next vehicle will have a bar.
