The retial $995 price for 12V includes the voltage change hardware, which therefor costs around $180 per light or about $365 more. I presume the similarity in price between the 5000 150W lights for both 24V and 12 V setups, is that I guess the hardware to convert 12V to 24V is much cheaper for 150W globes than is the 250W 12-24Volt hardware.
the 150W globes are 12V not 24V
