Don't bother, unless you just like the look of it (and IMHO it's fugly) it will just add to the cost of the repair if you actually hit anything, it won't actually stop anything.

    And it's expensive.

Not sure of the specs but have heard that the price is about to or has reduced, apparently the bar does not fit the MY14 model.
Ask a dealer for the specs.

I looked at the LR bar but decided to go with an ECB one. On order at the moment. It has been designed to be compatible with LR parking sensors and camera. Not to everyone's taste but I quite like the look of it. It comes in 4 "colours" - mirror polished alloy, silver hammertone, black ripple powdercoat, silver ripple powdercoat finishes. I went for the silver hammertone - I'm not into polishing bullbars It's costing me $2880 fitted from a dealer I've dealt with before.

Check the ECB web site below if you're interested.

Earlier this week when I was driving home in the Adelaide Hills (near Houghton) I saw an oncoming D4, a dark colour possibly green. It had a bull bar that I had not seen before with the "LAND ROVER" letters across the top horizontal bar. It looked a nice bit of kit but was gone before I had a chance to see it properly. Not an ARB or OL or LR bar so perhaps it was an ECB.

I have the Opposite Lock bar on my D4 and it paid for itself on my first trip when I "nosed" into a sand dune when crossing the Simpson. (There was a soft sand filled hole in front of the dune and we dropped into it ) The bar was tilted back at the bottom by what was a pretty hard impact. The airbags did not deploy yet it was a decent thud. The gaps between the wheel arch flairs and the bar that everyone (else) complains about were reduced to touching by the impact. After the trip I took it back to OL where they removed the bar, checked the mountings and reinstalled as good as new. Happy with my OL Bar as it also has the cameras and sensors working without any problems.

The only one I've seen with "Land Rover" on it is the genuine LR version. The ECB bar doesn't have Land Rover on it from the pictures I've seen. Find out when I get it I suppose.

I've seen the Land Rover one at a local shopping centre - which seems to be entirely appropriate.

It appears to just be an alloy skin which sits in front of the plastic bumper bar. Very shiny - but I wouldn't trust its strength in a collision.

Another potential problem with the LR bar is the fact that it does not fit a winch.
I am looking at getting a bull bar would be happy with OL or ARB, the problem seems to be finding a store that sells and installs them correctly. Most places I have been to have never installed one or I have been warned not to go there.
Anybody happy with a bar install in Melbourne, if so who installed it.

A lot of "opinion" about the LR bar!!

I'm not saying it's any good, but maybe we should hear from someone who has one, or someone who's at least banged and prodded at one. I had a client on a recent training day with one - looked good (at least on his white car) and seemed sturdy enough.

    Cheers,

    Hi Tonyci

I had mine (AR installed at Ritter, Melbourne 3 years ago - Disco 4. Very good job. Been to many places with it now including Simpson and Vic High Country. No problems with it.
