Thread: Removing this panel?

Well, pulled the panel down and yep, one of the clips flew off and back under the dash where I couldn't reach it. Luckily, next drive it fell back out onto the floor. Phew.

Added some foam padding in around the rubber panel that surrounds the steering column. No ticking since but the test will be tomorrow on the way to work as it happens more regularly when's it's warmed up and on the freeway. Fingers crossed.

Got a great look at the nicely installed Redarc TowPro whilst it was down too.

Hi Andy.
Not quite on topic, but where did you find a Rave CD for a D4? My understanding is that the only workshop manuals available are via TOPIx?

Believe it or not! been there done that!

Well, that didn't work. Still have an annoying rattle/tick coming from the steering wheel area. I think it may actually be the back of the wheel itself .

Looks like a trip to the dealer (an hour each way) may be required. Unless anyone has any ideas?

Ive got a rattle under that section too sounds like something not held in tight a panel or something drives me up the wall I've pushed and moved everything around!! I just haven't had time to pull that panel down you were talking about.

On a couple of occasions I have had a tick (more very short creak) from the lower glove box. Open/close or push & all gone. I know it's nowhere near your apparent location, but noise can appear to come from somewhere which can be far away from the cause. Worth a try! There and the trim under the touchscreen.

Definitely coming from around the wheel somewhere. If I apply pressure to the bottom of the wheel (pulling it out toward me and pushing it back away from me) I can make the sound. Bazaar that it doesn't happen on short trips. Only when vehicle is well and truly warmed up. Wouldn't notice it in most cars, it's just that this one is so bloody quiet which is awesome.
