    Removing this panel?

Hi all, can someone please tell me how to remove the panel under the steering column? I have an annoying intermittent 'tick' coming from the area. It could also be coming from the steering wheel area itself as a push or pull on the wheel can make the noise too.

Also, what's the little vent in this panel for?

    Thanks in advance.

Grab the top edge and pull sharply. There are two clips, left and right that hold it in place with the bottom hinged. Don't be surprised if a clip goes flying.

Panel is hinged at the back - just pull down sharply at the top as others have said.

I've never had the clips fall out on mine (touch wood), and I have dropped the panel many times. I have set up another fuse box in there for after market accessories (CB Radio, Sat-Nav, Radar Detector, TPMS and most recently, Blackvue Camera). Can't stand having things plugged in to cigarette lighter/s with multiple adaptors etc.

The vent is just part of the air conditioning system - when you drop the panel down, you'll see what the vent matches up to. You would probably choose to keep it closed if you are a Scotsman who wears a kilt and no undies ...................
    Cheers .........

When you say 'the clips go flying', does this mean they break easily or just come loose.

Last thing I want is broken clips.

The metal part of the clip which attaches to the plastic protrusion on the lid can come off. Nothing actually breaks just comes apart. This style of clip is used throughout the vehicle (and many other manufacturers) and has a habit to bouncing around as it is left behind. One of those telescopic rods with a magnet on the end is a work while investment if you plan to lift any trim pieces.

It's not pull down... More pull back towards the seat bolster

Yep those little metal clips....made of gold.
One always comes off. Lucky first couple times I removed the panel, it ricocheted around and landed on the floor.
Last time I heard it pinging around, but never ever did find it again.
LR dealer happy to provide another........for $8.11 plus gst....
