If so, I need to do some more digging in my CCF to try to enable this...

    Thanks,

I have acquired a cheap ebay camera mainly to test proof of concept. If all works, I may upgrade to a better camera in due course.

I attacked the dash this afternoon and was stumped by the plug into the back of the touch screen unit.

The pink plug shown is/was plugged into the second from the left (pink) plug. TOPIx tells me that the right hand pink plug is the reversing camera input.

Does anyone know if the connectors shown are a standard off-the-shelf type of connector, or are they likely to be manufacturer specific?

The camera I have has a generic RCA style connector.

    Cheers,

Hi - I have a 2012 LR4 Lux with the surround cameras. I am trying a 2014+ facelift and it appears I am the first to do so with the cameras. The original style camera and wiring harness doesnt reach the new brackets on the 14+ bumper. I ordered the new cameras and front bumper wiring harness but it appears they would have to be blended or modified to take the old sockets to hook into the body harness. Would I also need an updated processor that goes under the drivers seat? Will all this modified wiring work in theory or should I try to extend the old harness and see if I can modify the brackets and get the old cameras to fit? Any insight would be helpful! Thanks!

3M Dual Lock. Best thing ever!

Another example of the brilliant 3M Dual Lock heavy duty Velcro liketape.
This Stuff is strong and weather proof. I’ve used it on many applications including external uses on my Defender.
Here I’ve used it to mount my Safety Dave Rear View Caravan camera connector.
    No drilling into the vehicle!
You can get it off eBay or the bigger Bunnings.

    Hi!
I am new to this forum and I need some help.
I have installed a reversing camera to my D4 GS MY13 and I have a clear picture, but no guiding lines. So all electrical connections are fine. I activated it by SDD tool. It is not an OEM camera, but one from ebay.
    What can it be?

AFAIK the lines are generated by the factory camera, so non-factory camera no lines.

Which type of entertainment unit do you have, Meridan or HK? From memory the bendy reversing lines only came with the Meridan system from MY14 onwards.

The guidelines are generated by the factory camera, regardless of the model year, fixed or moving, not the screen.

Just about all aftermarket cameras have guidelines, you might need to snip a looped wire on the camera to make them show up.

and to add to that, my understanding is that to get curving lines in line with steering input you need the CANBUS version of the camera

Are you suggesting that if I bought the 2013+ reversing camera that (and ran canbus to it) I could make my 2010 bendy? Interesting.

    Ah not sure about that.

To get curving lines you definitely need CANBUS version of the camera but with the older head unit not sure if it would work...

Also,(I posted this somewhere earlier in the thread - bit clunky on my phone, otherwise I’d post the link) the camera changed to CANBUS somewhere in MY14 models.

“Some time early in the life of MY14 D4's, the camera has changed from LR023365 (superseded by LR043493) to LR051728- which I assume is the CAN bus connected version... I haven't been able to verify this... "
