Watching Kms per liter discussions for a while.

And although its something that we all like to discuss from time to time as its appears to be coming right out of your wallet - its in some ways interesting.

However as most new landrovers or in fact all new prestige vehicles depreciate at around $200.00 + per week just sitting in the garage it all seems a bit pointless really

If you buy a $100k disco/ any vehicle in 5 years your looking at around half that depending on its condition - but even then a well maintained and well looked after specimen is only going to net a few more dollars back (relative to the purchase price) than one that's seen life during wartime.

So while its great to see the money draining from your wallet at a lesser flow as you motor around the countryside .. remember there is a fair torrent running under the rollerdoor every night while you sleep.

If you buy a $20K vehicle and sell in 5 years for 10K you have lost only $40.00 a week under the roller.. but with an enjoyable machine like the disco the flow is at the same rate but with a little more volume.. so just enjoy the drive cos that's what you paid for ..

And if you can afford to loose that sort of money - the difference between a 8 speed and a 6 speed is pretty well a moot point.?

    not sure any will agree.?

I take it then my monitoring the fuel prices in areas I drive around, saving shopping dockets all to save $2 makes little sense either?

What can I say? I love Land Rovers but I don't like BP.

    We all need a hobby.

Yes its weird - we all do it, perhaps even drive out of our way (a bit anyway) to get slightly cheaper petrol.

It could be interesting to calculate, if actually going to get cheap petrol over what you can get 'locally' without deviating from the road you are on, - is the saving lost by the trip to get it - how far does $2.00 get you?

    Generally maybe +/- 13kms for $2.00 - only 10K in the V8 version.

So that means the car only cost you $198.00 in depreciation this week cos you saved $2.00 ... less the (difference of the 13klms in wear and tear) Less the extra distance to save the $2.00.

I have given up this folly and now just stick the boot into the V8 and enjoy the daily depreciation as well as the petrol bill.

I am guilty of this. Even though the D3 V8 is no slouch, my other car is a FPV F6, no comparison in speed, but, I am yet to hear a better sounding car with the dual exhaust system.

Sorry Martin, it seems I have led you and all others with the Meridian System up the garden path. I could not find anything like what I can see on my 2010 HK system.

I've attached a pic of what is available on the 2010 system - not that it helps you.
