Thread: High beam light bar switch

Hi again. Is there a preferred type of switch and a preferred position for that light bar/high beam switch to occupy?

It's not too bad but does take a reasonable amount of time.

I ran a 7-core trailer cable from back to front. I was going to run it through the headlining but got worried about too much pushing and pulling of the curtain airbags to get the cable behind or above them. So ended up lifting the door sill trim, which is the same as the Traxide install but on the passenger side. There was a little bit of fiddling with that, especially getting past the rear ac unit. You also need to be careful getting the cable up from door sill into the A-pillar because there's an airbag behind there too. Once at the top of the A-pillar it is simple to get across to the overhead light console along the front edge of the headlining. The console itself is easy to pull down.


I used the 7-wire cable for some future proofing. Two wires are used for a switch that triggers video feed selection between rear cam and van cam. I'll also use it for a future dash cam install and driving light switching. And I have good access to an aux power connection in the back.

However, if you just want to have a small trigger wire for lights then it's obviously easier to get up from kick plate trim via A-pillar to the light console and ignore all the rear installation I've described.
