    Insurance

    Hi,

Yep a sad event for sure.

Presumably the vehicle is covered by comprehensive insurance.

I would be interested to see what the "new for old" vehicle is if that what is contained in the insurance and that an equivalent vehicle isn't available.

Hey mate - not sure exactly what you are after, but there is a HSE up on GraysOnline. Been auctioned a few times, with no bids. Could get it a cheap price? Says there is something wrong with centre display however.. Not sure how much they are to replace..

Hopefully the insurance will give you (nearly) enough to buy another one. If you get the chance to have another one then do try to keep the old one too, even if you have to buy the wreck back off the insurers. It is a solid source of spares which means you could buy one with a problem much cheaper and then take the bits off the wreck, to mend it with. From the photos it does just (!) seem to be bodywork damage, although admittedly there are electronics in the roof.

This nearly happened to us once in Ireland or Eire as it is now known. By a miracle we had gone shopping the previous evening and left the car by the back door and not in its usual parking spot, where the tree landed.

So sorry mate, the very best of luck to you.

Without seeing the damage away from the carport...

Maybe a new roof panel and windscreen is the only major parts needed?

Worth getting a quote from a competent workshop.

*Hope the Insurance Co (the scumbags that they are) Personal opinion)) paid up all good.
*Well MAYBE if someone had of been in it, it wouldnt have been in the carport and then wouldnt have got crushed.
    *Nice colour too!
*Out of all the trees on the planet and all the Discovery 4 models out there, its that one tree and your Disco, thats one of them "**** happens"
*When I was about 12 ish my Grandpa promised me his pristine Holden HX GTS when I was old enough, that storm season a tree fell smack bang in the centre of it and crushed it too the ground. I too was devastated

Sorry I couldnt offer any useful comments
You clearly don't buy the right insurance. I have nothing but the highest praise for my insurer given some of my weird claims. My Rooftop tent fell from its shackles on the ceiling and did $4500 damage to my 10 day old motorcylce. No questions asked. We got stuck in the Flinders Ranges and the air suspension went silly. $10k worth of damage to the underbelly. Paid up.
You get what you pay for.

Drowell which insurer do you use? I'm with nrma but never had to make a claim. I'd be gutted too if that happened to my 2013 SE. Winds are averaging 80km around here for the past few days. Sounds like a cyclone outside.

I took out Gap insurance for the duration of my finance (5 years), so what ever market value it, the gaps always covered between market (as per redbook) and the valuation.. was worth the $1300 odd up front cost i think

that also covers the final residual balloon..
