    D4 air compressor outlet for pumping tyres

    Maybe I used the wrong words in my searches, but I don't ever recall seeing an example of an additional air outlet fitted for pumping up tyres like my RRC has, compliments of the now deceased Malcolm from RovAir.

    Any leads/how difficult? Or maybe its already there as I haven't had a chance to check!!! Now that would be embarrassing.

    I havent seen any on the D3 , and not sure the air compressor is the right type of pump for tyre inflation. I did see a thread , maybe on the UK site where someone had added a extra tank from a wreck and had that for pumping tyres . I didnt pay to much attention to how it was plumbed in.

    The standard compressor for the air suspension is most definitely not suitable. It’s designed for high pressure and low flow. It would overheat and take forever. Apologies if I have misunderstood what you’re asking about.

    Thanks - and just as well I have a real tyre compressor as well! Must be quite a different animal to the RRC version?

    A number of us have an ARB compressor mounted in the driver's side battery box and if it's of interest I have also plumbed in a modified OEM air tank inside the chassis rail on the driver's side - details in this thread: ARB CMK Compressor/ Traxide setup

    IT can be done for an emergancy, I wouldnt trust it past one or two tyres occasionally. The easiest way is to T off the line to the tank and fit a pressure regulator with a screw on hose and ball valve.

    that said...

    Id put an ARB compressor in down the back or a cheap aldi one, mines been going for 5 years now and does what I need when I need it. (so far except for burning through hoses.)

    I use just a single piston compressor plugged into the rear Anderson plug. When not in use it's in the back with the rest of the junk I carry all the time.

    This is exactly what I have done. An ARB compressor in the drivers side battery box with a switch and the air hose outlet on the outside of the box. Works great.
